Most people would be interested in that to install a SATA drive into original Xbox. You would still need 80 wires IDE cable, though. It works just fine, and has a master/slave jumper on it for hotswap cloning.

Does a great job. Just what I needed to replace the IDE hard drive with SATA drive in my Humax PVR. Worked straight away. Excellent.

Bought this to retrieve the contents of three IDE drives. A bit fiddly to get into place, but it picked up the first drive no problem. It took absolutely ages to transfer the contents though, speed was no higher than 4-5MB/s (I don't remember IDE being THAT slow!). Nonetheless, it did the job. Unfortunately, it did not detect the other two drives. They span up but nothing happened. Could easily be the drives themselves though. Overall, for the cost, I'm happy and would recommend with caution. It's just a bit slow.

Wanted this to use an old 20GB SSD from a dead laptop in an even older tower PC. It connected up ok and the BIOS actually detected the drive first time, brilliant or so I thought. That was until the whole system then hung, until I removed the drive and rebooted. Now the PC doesn't see it all, despite the drive working in another machine. Despite trying different drives and on a different PC, this adaptor appears to now be totally dead. So a total of 5 seconds of life, at least the motherboard was unaffected as the PC detects IDE drives fine.

As described in the title - this works really well with the original Xbox. I wanted to drop in a SATA solid state drive to replace a 22 year old mechanical drive (that hadn't been powered on for at least a decade until recently!). Somehow the original drive still worked but I didn't want to risk it. This adaptor has worked perfectly (although I did need to pick up an 80 pin IDE cable from Amazon for a couple of quid). I've bought IDE to SATA adapters in the past - I went with this one specifically this time for its ability to be switched between primary and secondary IDE channels (that's a blast from the past!). It made it easier for cloning the original drive. Good value.

Many of these modules don't - this one does! and it has master/slave jumper which is. important for some systems

I already have a similar device, but the transfer is much worse. Thanks to USB 3.0, data transfer is more stable and faster, and additional external power is necessary for old HDDs

totally useless.. unfortunately I didn't get around to trying them till several months later and found they just don't seem to really work.. old motherboard said SATA SSD and refused to use it (stopped booting with an error), then an older SATA HD worked enough to attempt to install windows XP but failed to boot due to a missing file (worked absolutely fine with an actual IDE drive!).. may try on a couple of other boards but will see if the more expensive StarTech one works instead.

Der Adapter wird dafür genutzt, eine Sata SSD auf einem alten Pentium 2 board mit IDE Anschluss zu benutzen. Wurde problemlos erkannt, und Windows 98 liess sich einwandfrei darauf installieren, ohne irgendwelche zusätzlichen Treiber. Gewinnt keine Geschwindigkeitspreise, aber das war auch nicht das Ziel. Achtung: Das Board arbeitet anscheinend mit einer internen OS als Interface, denn wenn man die Platte von diese Adapter abzieht und diese versucht an einem anderen PC mit SATA Anschluss auszulesen findet man nur diverse nicht auslesbare Partitionen. Als Backup Methode daher eher nicht geeignet.

Saves space in older case

Used this to swap the original 10GB slow and noisy HDD in my original Xbox to a 256GB SSD. Just make sure that you ALSO upgrade the original IDE cable to a 40PIN 80-wire IDE cable, otherwise it might not work as intended.
