The "dye" works like markers, giving bright colors even when a two and a four year old do the coloring. Didn't wear off on the hands. Fur was still nice and soft. I brushed her later, and much of it stayed. We haven't tried to wash it. I would definitely buy it again. The first picture is of the decorating party; the second, the results, the third was day 2 after brushing (and then rolling in something dead). It sticks around pretty well (so does the something dead). .Update: Mostly washed out with first bath.
