Q: I've heard this iron uses a lot of water, spits frequently, steams too much and water inlet doesn't shut properly. Can anyone verify that?

I’ve had two of these irons and both of them have been great. The steam can be regulated, personally I like an iron that steams well, it’s makes ironing easier. The only reason I had to buy a second one is because my first one was dropped and it didn’t steam properly afterwards. I’ve never had any spitting and my water inlet clicks shut. Hope this helps.
