46 Leatherwork Projects Anyone Can Do Paperback – Illustrated, 15 Sept. 2017

If you are just starting out in the wonderful world of Leatherwork well then this is the book for you.Yes it's true it can be a bit of a pain in the butt to have to take the book with you when you want to have the patterns enlarged. But remember this is a small price to pay especially when you or I are just learning the craft. I hope you or whoever receives this book will have as much fun as I have had using it. Have fun and enjoy.

This is a wonderful book, however the templates are all given as 1:2, 1:5 scale. What on earth is that, I dont have access to a photocopier and I would have to work out the maths for % increase (thanks!)Why oh why do publishers insist on putting patterns in books like this? It really does put up barriers where there should not be any. I cant even buy graph paper as the shops are closed!! Not a happy bunny! I will work it out though I usually do, I just dont want to waste any leather!!

A great book full of ideas - I can’t wait to get started!

This South African produced book presents leathercraft in a very simplified manner but seems to forget the safe nature of saddlery in that a simplified description of Saddle Stitching is shown contrary to the stitch preferred by saddlers.The diagrams contained and the ideas explained will be very useful to the absolute beginners. The use of circular pricking tools makes for an easy approach.Very well produced book.

I liked one item - the back pack (photo on the cover) was a nice colour and straight forward. The basics are good in here, but I thought I would find more.The problem with it is that the designs seem as if they came from the 1980's old, which made me feel completely un-inspired to even give a tiny bit of effort into making them. Why would I like a dice cup, or a leather apron that takes the best of a large hide? Perhaps it has inspired me to make better leather creations all by myself. Isn't that what we are supposed to do?So, at the end of my boring waffle, I am inspired to design the items that I make to be chic and interesting. I better get another roll of drawing paper...

When I first saw the leather backpack on the cover of this book, I immediately fell in love with it's simple design and its copper patina color. Having never worked with leather before, I was compelled to have a closer look at the whole book. Flipping through the pages of the book I found to my surprise that working with leather is not as intimidating as I thought and that I can sew that backpack and all the other projects in the book by hand. All needed materials and tools as well as techniques for cutting the leather, hole punching, and sewing are described in detail at the beginning of the book. Patterns can be found at the end of the book and need to be enlarged to scale on a copier or at a copy shop.Every project is made of plain leather. The style is aesthetic and utilitarian. The different bags and the satchel look very sturdy.You can find a whole variety of leather items with appeal for women and men. Beginners can start out with the smaller items in the book, which are also good for using up leather scraps. I think I will invest in a few tools and start out with a simple project, like the tablet cover. Overall, I can only recommend this book.P.S.: The patterns for the office In-Box and the Document Holder are designed for A4 paper format and have to adjusted in the US to fit standard letter format.

Je trouvé très bien cette livré elle explique avec des images très clair les projets et j'adoré on trouvé des projet très intéressant et en plus on as les patrons pour tous, je crée un vidéo sûr YouTube ou je vous mentre tous les progets ❤ je le recommande pour les débutants, avancé et passionné.
