How to get strong coffee?

We use dark roast with a medium fine grind. At the grocery store we use the grind selection that is one up from the finest grind. Hope this helps. Also, we don’t tamp down the grounds. Just tap the side to settle it. Then press the seal all the way around and then brush off the edges. You might be over filling or compressing too much and not getting good enough water flow inside. You want the used grounds to have a firm feel, and not soupy or hard as a brick. Okay around with how you fill your pod. It’s worth it

I use 7.8oz pods, but only 2.7oz servings come out. What did I do wrong?

Most nespresso machines can be programmed to shut off before the full brewing cycle has been completed. Some folks choose to do this to increase intensity of their coffee. It’s not uncommon to inadvertently re-program your brewing cycle. See your owner’s manual for an easy fix in how to restore factory settings. Happens a lot.

How clean must the edge from the old capsule be? It is impossible to get old capsule edge completely clean. Will this still work?

The sides are like screws, lid is easy to clean. If no coffee particles on the capsule edges, than discolorstion etc. does not matter. I am using same capsule still, with same lid.

Okay I’m new to this but if I’m using these reusable lids and pod how do I tell the nespresso to make only an expresso vs a cofee?

Your Nespresso machine will read the pod that it is used. Therefore, you will need an expresso pod to brew the smaller amount. If you use the larger 7oz pod then you will get regular coffee. Just reuse the pod of the coffee you would like to brew.
