Great quality, be eyes open
Hi everyone, the machining and other qualities of this vise are great. (Me, mech engr) But still, be eyes open. You won’t get ANY wood. You will need to make your own pads, or “cheeks.” And you will need to pull together a handle. Now, that’s easy enough. Note also there’s no metal to be a backing for your pads. Not there. And, your screws to place the vise will be vertical, screwed in upward. It would be nice to have both vertical and horizontal screws, where the horizontal screws are oriented to resist dropping out of your workbench. BUT, the screws you put in will resist the force of the pull of your clamping. That’s good. So know what you’re getting, and buy. The vise is great. For what it is. And, most guys don’t make pads of anything but scrap wood. Do that. Handle? Dowel, nor much. Oh, and no “speed” motion, but I don’t like that. It’s trouble.

Good, solid vice, no wooden parts included.
Although it says so someplace in the ad, that the wooden parts are not included, I carelessly went by the photo. So when I received the vice, I was not prepared with the right type of wood. I have it installed now, works fine.it also would have been nice if they included a passer template to accurately drill the holes.

Works great, saves money!
I wanted to save money by buying a less expensive workbench and adding my own bench vise system. This vise was really easy to install. I might redo it later with better wood, but this scrap pine I had did the job. I used 3/4 inch bench dogs at 3" apart for my setup. Also, I did not use the included bolts, but a threaded bolt insert kit that I already had.I saved at least $600 by using this vise instead of buying a workbench with an included bench vise.
