Yes. But the pouches do not become too large as the waist size increases.

Hi D H Game,Yes the back is open and yes they are comfortable. I mostly wear them for cycling to hold me in one place as much as possible. But I do wear them for going out to functions. The only drew back to wearing them when not doing sporting activity is, when you wish to take a leak, it is time consuming to get the fella out but apart from that, they are well made and fit well, plus I washing-machine wash mine on a hot white wash and they are cool. One thing though, you will hear stitching pop but after a while they will be fine. I brought three, looking to buy another three. If your going to wash as I do get bigger size for shrinking.
