Great product, great price!
After buying the Leaf Thorn razor, I must admit I’m very pleased with its performance. For the sake of context let me say a few things first. 1) I chose the Thorn version over the Twig since my normally coarse facial hair has evolved into an even more stubborn “gray bristle” variety. 2) I prefer razors with some heft to them. 3) Past experience leads me to never use the blades included with new razors regardless of price. That being said, the Thorn works wonderfully! I get an effortless shaving experience with a design that rinses easily and allows precise control in every area. Although it was lighter than expected and obviously biased towards the handle, it feels great in the hand and requires no extra effort (pressure against your face) to get the job done. My usual two passes produces a clean, close shave with no irritation. The included blades were added to my growing “zombie apocalypse use only” pile since folding my usual brand blades in half is quite simple and cost effective. If you’re in the market for a new razor you should seriously consider this one!

Exactly What I’ve Been Looking For
This razor may not be for everyone but for my needs it’s as close to perfect as it gets. For context, I’ve been shaving with a double edge (DE) razor for nearly 20 years. For most of that time I’ve been using Feather blades in a German razor. I also use a Japanese shavette to line up my beard. I decided to try this razor because 1. It’s nearly impossible to consistently get up close to a beard with a DE. The back side of the head blocks your view no matter what position you try using. 2. You constantly have to remain aware of and adjust your shaving angle to ensure a good shave while avoiding nicks and burns. 3. I don’t always have the time and patience that DEs require when it comes to shaving before work or bed. The Leaf Thorn addressed all of these issues for me. The shape of head provides a significantly better view of my beard. The angle of the head vastly reduces the amount of time and effort it takes to maintain the correct shaving position. In terms of aggressiveness, the Leaf Thorn is equivalent to a decent closed comb DE razor. If you’re used to using those 5 or 6 blade cartridge razors DO NOT assume that you can transition over to this razor without adjusting your technique. You definitely need to avoid long, fast strokes with a heavy hand. If you tend to be a slow learner or if you think you’ll revert back to your multiblade shaving technique then the Leaf Twig might be a better option for you. However, if you’re a fast learner or you’re used to using a DE razor then the Leaf Thorn will be a natural transition for you. You’ll still need to use a light hand and short strokes. But you’ll find that the shave itself will ultimately be faster and easier. That said, keep in mind that the weight of the razor sits in the handle rather than the head. Not a big issue for me but some people might not like that. I haven’t had it long enough to speak to its durability but it has a nice amount of heft and it feels sturdy and precise when opening and closing it. The magnet for the blade is also a nice touch. As always, a razor is only as good as the blades that you put in it. There are lots of decent brands out there but I recommend Feathers. Snap them in half and you’re good to go.

Learning Curve
This razor surprised me with a very smooth shave. However, there is a learning curve. The razor is all metal, heavier and has a different feel than a multi-blade disposable plastic razor. At first I had several cuts. After several shaves I have had no cuts but it took some patience. Blades are easy to find in just about any grocery store. The double edged blades are inexpensive and break perfectly in half easily. I am liking this razor more every shave. And, it will save money over time.

I’m not paid
I just want to clarify that I am Arab. I am naturally hairy and can grow a beard in a day. I have literally spend hundreds of dollars trying to find different razors to shave my face with and have met with disappointment in the ends. I have sensitive skin so when I shave, I get a lot of nicks. When I first tried the thorn (I got it today (20250423)) and I used the astra blades not the one that came with the box and let me tell you something… for the first time ever I have found a razor that is A) very cost effective and B) has the perfect design. The ergonomics of this razor (thorn) is damn near perfect. I didn’t need to apply pressure, and there was no pulling (compliments to the blade). I definitely would recommend this razor to anyone that has sensitive skin and grows a lot of hair. Update So I decided to switch to the twig for a less harsh shave due to my sensitive skin and it works even better. My hair grows in multiple directions and it’s not exactly the thinnest hair either. Using the twig makes it so much easier to shave and it’s very user friendly. With less of the blade showing, it makes for a comfortable shave. I highly recommend the twig if you 1. You have sensitive skin 2. Grow hair in multiple directions 3. Need to shave everyday LEAF has always made amazing and easy to use razors and they are only getting better from here. I’m not one to stay in the ecosystem of any company however leaf is one of the few that I don’t mind.

Not worth the price.
Disappointed. Expensive. Bulky. The head is not flexible. I got another brand here. That has single blade and a flexible head. That has more premium feel. Overpriced.

Well-built razor
Love this razor. First time using a safety razor and the weight is perfectly balanced, kind of helps guide the razor during my shave. To the skin close shave with this model I have. The blade lip does not have a guard, but the way it is designed with very little overhang I was able to get a hang of the appropriate angle to avoid nicks. I have non-leaf blades and it is accepting.

Offers an easy, close, and comfortable shave
I shaved for the first time with this just an hour ago and I must say it was a great shave. I got a baby smooth shave without any irritation and immediately got the hang of the angle. The twist function works great for loading and unloading blades, and the ability to snap any regular double edge blade in half and use it in this means you can save a lot of $ by buying a 100 pack of blades of your preference for cheap and being set for years to come.

Good razor, with exceptions
This is a good razor, however it's not that good if you don't shave every day. It's not aggressive enough to take heavy wiskers off without going over them 5-10 times, which kills the blades. The protective leading edge bar doesn't allow the longer wiskers to stand up enough to cut close to the skin. It needs fingers instead of that bar, and it would greatly improve its performance. If you have finer wiskers, or shave every day, this would be fantastic. Just not for those of us with tree trunks for facial hair. I'm still going to use it, I just don't love it as much as I had hoped I would. If they make a more aggressive version, I'd be VERY interested in it. Full disclosure, I have been shaving with a shavette style strait razor for about 4 years, so I'm used to the blade not being able to ride up over the wiskers like this does. Update: I've found that you need a more aggressive razor blade with this. Feather or others that are known for being almost to aggressive make a HUGE difference. In fact, since I don't need to go over the same spot so often, and I don't need to be as aggressive wuth the whole razor, I get almost no nicks anymore. I still believe that it needs fingers instead of the bar across the leading edge, but it's still a good razor. Changing my 3 stars to 4 stars, as I believe needing a more aggressive blade isn't exactly the fault of the handle.

Single blade razor
Great single blade razor ..Be careful when you load the blade , insuring that it sits properly in the razor as you can get cut very easily if not loaded properly
