Excellent perlite!
This perlite is the ultimate additive to my potting mix--no dust, all perfect size, light weight, and durable, as in doesn't break down to a choking white powder as easily as other perlite does--because of this I firmly believe this perlite is also a better value. My only regret is that I should have bought the 10 qt. bag--thus I'll order that with next month's paycheck! This is also the neatest looking top dressing for your young plants. I'll be using this when I sow my adenium seeds next week in the seed starting mix. This perlite is a superior product and I highly recommend it.

Really good quality mineral perlite
This is very good perlite and it is REAL perlite. It is nice chunky perlite. Perlite is a mineral substance formed by the heat of a volcano. Today some vendors are selling what they call “organic” perlite. I have no idea what organic substance they are using to make organic perlite. They never say. Real perlite cannot be crushed so easily as that “organic” perlite can be. I don’t know what substance their perlite is made of but real perlite is mineral NOT organic. This brand is some of the best perlite I have been able to find. The past four years have done something to the supply. What hS been available lately is mostly powder. You are not buying mostly powder with this brand of perlite. I’m just upset that I have to pay so much for a decent product. At least it is available.

Low dust, great difference in the 2 sizes
Overall happy with the product. Has less "dust" than many others, and seems to not break as easily. The only issue, for me, is the extremely difference in the 2 sizes. The 5-10mm is mostly 3-5mm, very few above the 5mm. However the 5-10mm is VERY chunky. Most are 10mm (1cm), and slightly larger. For me, it would be perfect if the 4-8mm was truly 4-8mm, and not just on the very low side of that spectrum, or a touch smaller. But, it's larger than others on the market, claiming to be chunky, and make you question what "chunky" means to them.

thumbs up
I've experimented with various soil amendments, and one that has consistently impressed me is chunky perlite. Its unique properties make it an essential component in creating an ideal potting mix, especially for indoor plants. The larger granules not only improve aeration but also create space for roots to breathe, which is crucial for the health of indoor plants. This chunky version is particularly beneficial because it enhances drainage without compacting over time, which can often happen with finer soil mixes. One of the standout features of using chunky perlite is its ability to retain moisture while preventing waterlogged conditions. This is vital for plants like succulents, cacti, and orchids that thrive in well-draining environments. It creates a more balanced moisture retention level, allowing roots to absorb water without drowning. Moreover, chunky perlite helps reduce the risk of root rot, a common issue for indoor plant enthusiasts.

This is coarse perlite
This is good coarse perlite with minimal small pieces and dust. It will work for what I’m using it for, but I’ll be very surprised if it’s actually 5 quarts like it’s supposed to be. The price of perlite is crazy, and I’ll be switching to an alternate product for my hempy buckets next time.

Great perlite!
I’m very impressed with the quality of this product. It is perlite so, as you’d expect, it’s lightweight and porous- excellent for aerating my potting soil or for increasing drainage by layering the 5-10 mm particles into the bottom of my pots. But, what makes this particular perlite my favorite is that there is virtually zero dust! Unlike other perlite products, you can’t easily crush one of these particles between your fingers. It’s tough stuff, able to hold up even after being crammed into a bin full of gardening supplies when I moved. Highly recommend!
