Pedia-Lax is a good product for constipation, especially when it is occasional. It generally acts quite quickly and remains rather gentle on the stomach, which is important. Depending on the form (tablet, liquid, or suppository), the effect can be rapid (a few minutes) or more gradual (up to 72 hours).

I honestly wish I had found these sooner. My son has struggled with constipation for a while, and even though he takes Miralax daily, we reached a point where it became very painful for him to go. This product worked in LITERAL minutes!! We are in the midst of potty training our almost 3yr old and she would not let go enough to poop and this helped clear out her blockage from being constipated within minutes. This is a must have product.

Such a life-saver!! My poor toddler really had a bad stretch of constipation. We would try everything in terms of food with no relief. These are easy to use, and the relief comes so quickly!! It’s amazing. Within a minute, she is relieved. I keep them in the cupboard now. Works well for adults too… just use a couple.

Highly recommended. If there is a chronically slow GI and chronic borderline constipation, consider making sure the recommended water intake is met. Years ago my child (5-6 y.o. at the time) should have been getting 6 cups of water a day but was only getting 3-4 cups of water a day which caused chronic borderline constipation with big bowel movements every 3-4 days. Occasionally, no BM would go to day 5 and we would give an oral stool softener (powder mixed with water) but sometimes that wouldn't act well enough. Day 7 happened twice and we used the suppository which worked wonders. It took us over two years to figure out that slight dehydration was the problem even after consultations with our primary care doctor and a nutritionist. As soon as we upped the water intake to 6 cups a day the borderline constipation problem went away and there were bowel movements reliably every other day for years (think the opposite direction as Old Faithful!). That is until last week... Somehow the young one didn't mention missing a BM until day 5! Dehydration again was to blame along with consuming more dairy than usual. For age 10 the recommendation is 7-8 cups of water a day. Drinking some water and trying to go to the bathroom every few hours didn't work. I couldn't get this suppository until day 6. The label says ages 2-5 but this stuff still worked as good for a 10 y.o. on the 6th day of no poop. Somehow dropper insertion was harder on a 10 y.o. than when age 6 but after much reassurances and coaxing to relax I was able to get the dropper in somewhat and squeeze out about half of the contents. It took about a minute before I heard "I need to go!" but I asked my kid to remain in place for a few more minutes. After another minute the rebuttal of "I really need to go!" won out and at first only the suppository liquid came out (we didn't wait long enough) but after another minute the massive BM came out with only a slight pain. It would have been better to wait at least 5 minutes to let the suppository "soak in" better. Once at age 6, only a minute went by before I heard "I have to go!" but we had to redo the suppository because the BM failed. Waiting at least 5 minutes despite needing to go is key.

This product really helped my 2-year-old after she had been struggling with constipation for over three months. We tried increasing fluids and fiber first, but this was what finally gave her gentle and effective relief. It worked fairly quickly and didn’t seem to cause significant discomfort, which I really appreciated as a parent. The only downside is the applicator design. It doesn’t seem to fully deliver all of the liquid — the solution always gets pulled back into the container instead of going in completely. That makes it a bit frustrating to use and leaves me unsure if the full dose was administered. Overall, it’s effective and helpful for occasional constipation, but I do wish the delivery system was designed better.
