Definitely worth a read !
Just finished reading this book, and as an ex " Toyota Guy" I loved it.Nice to be reminded that its not all about implementing tools, following steps and creating fancy modules, as we are demanded to do so often by corporate program leaders and "Lean" VP's.Back to basics approach, solve the problem in front of you and not rolling out tools for the sake of it.I also liked the fact it is as long as it needs to be and not padded out for extra words and just repeating itself. Refreshing to see. Thanks Phil. Well done. Great book.I know many people who would benefit from reading this...

Phil Ledbetter succinctly establishes a template, based on the Toyota Production System, that can be used by anyone as a guide to their own transformation from traditional manufacturing to a Just-In-Time system. The first time I’ve seen someone explain TPS in a way that’s understandable and doable. Thanks Phil!

A users perspective in the real world...
Like many industrial topics, this subject is a little dry. The book is short and concise. LEAN is an over used buzz- word. It is seen as the magic bullet management wants but typically fails to fully embrace. Phil provides a practical look at the Toyota method and reinforces the need to fully commit and drive the whole operation with a lean focus, not just apply selected elements looking for a fast improvement. Worth reading.... billooltewah

Disappointing, was expecting more
This is a very small book, less than 100 pages, but that’s not the real problem.Given the title and the author’s long employment at Toyota, I was expecting some deep insights, but it’s just a shallow reflecting pool.Overall, there is little here that’s not been written elsewhere, and the instructions are grossly inadequate for implementation without assistance from someone with experience.
