Cuisinart 5-Cup Coffee Maker with Stainless Steel Carafe, Coffee Machine with Removable Water Reservoir, Charcoal Water Filter, 30-Minute Keep Warm, and Brew Pause, DCC-5570NAS, Stainless Steel

I used the Black & Decker Brew and Go for years, the first one lasted 8 years, the second 5, the third 3, and so on until it was discontinued. It made a great cup of coffee. I tried the Hamilton Beach Single, but I couldn’t get the coffee strong enough, and then the Capresso Single Serve, which is a really well-made machine, but I don’t like a basket filter, it tastes a little bitter to me, I much prefer a cone shape, but I haven’t been able to find a single serve that had a cone filter like the B&D had. So, I decided to try a small coffee pot, researched a few, and started with the Krups, which I liked very much for its small footprint, cone filter, ease of operation, and it made a very smooth cup of coffee. However, it was not hot enough. So, I tried this one and was pleased to find the coffee is much hotter and this also has auto shut off (Krups does not). I did a temperature test while the coffee was in the pot and the Krups read 166 degrees, the Capresso Single Serve was 179, and this was right around 180. The water tank is a bit fidgety, but I just pour water into it versus removing it every time and I like that I can clean it so much easier than other machines. I didn’t bother with the filter since I use filtered water, but I read it can help with how often you need to decalcify, so I may give it a shot, and I also purchased a Delibru gold tone permanent filter, because I would rather my coffee was not filtered through plastic. I didn’t notice any plastic taste, but I did run 3 pots of water through it before I made the first pot. I found the coffee very smooth and was able to make it as strong as I like. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase.

This brews great coffee. Here's why. The coffee snobs say you have to brew around 180 degrees. This does it at around 170. More than good enough. The shower head is large. That means it's spreading the water out over the grounds more evenly instead of drilling a hole down the middle. That makes for rich, smooth coffee. I like to use 2 tablespoons per "cup" (actually 6oz) and I make 2 "cups" (12oz). There's enough room in the basket to put almost 10 tablespoons for the 5 cups. Most small coffee makers can't do that. It's a little slower and that's good. Again, helps to make great coffee. What I'm not crazy about. The warmer plate actually boils the coffee in the carafe. It should keep the coffee hot but not boil it. As others have pointed out, the carafe has a plastic rim that traps a little coffee inside. Not a big deal. Overall this is a great coffee maker for the money and I highly recommend it. I like it!

This is a well regarded brand of small kitchen appliances. Perfect for smaller spaces & for those who don’t want to make a huge put of coffee, only to throw most out. This is the Cuisinart replacement for an older model of which my late wife had gone through three of over the past 20+ years & perfect for her usage. Little noise, easy to use, looks great, brew speed is fine & definitely gets the coffee hot enough. With care, expect about 4-5 years of usage from this coffee maker. For best possible taste, it’s important to keep the carafe clean & can be done with a steel wool type of pad with soap (there’s at least two will known brands to choose from). Be sure to wash afterwards with regular dishwashing detergent and a strong paper towel & rinse very carefully, then turn upside down and allow to air dry. It’s OK to perform a final rinse just before using the next time, the only drying required is the outside, to prevent damaging the heating surface of the coffee maker.

I had the 4 cup model before this and loved it. This one is great as well. The small size and aluminum carafe make it pretty unique among coffee makers. The removable water tank is helpful and makes filling very easy. My only gripe (and reason for 4 stars) is the water filter. It's basically useless as it doesn't actually filter the water. It just sits in the water tank, meaning water flows through the brewing process without going through the filter. Do I really care about filtering my water(?), not that much but the fact that it's included and advertised as a feature is extremely disingenuous and makes me feel like Cuisinart added it as an afterthought in order to appeal to a certain customer and to charge more. I like the coffee maker but I'm extremely displeased at the insulting coffee filter implementation.

UPDATE to the UPDATE: After additional email prodding, nothing appeared to happen. About 10 days later I received a notice of an impeding UPS delivery. Another 10 days and a 6"x6" package arrived. Inside was a replacement lid. So thank you Cuisinart. I'll add an additional star. If you tilt the carafe too steeply, coffee runs out of the seam between the carafe and the lid. UPATE: The unit is still less than a year old and the lid to the coffee pot will not stay on at all. I've contacted Cuisinart support twice about this and their response, thus far, is to notify me they received my email, make a truly stupid and unhelpful suggestion and then ignore me. Though it does make good coffee, the unit is becoming less usable by the day. I've reduced my rating from 4 to 3 and now 2 starts. Save your money and look elsewhere. This is an aesthetically appealing machine that makes good coffee at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, there are some design compromises that make the unit frustrating to use. The carafe is the major problem. It is advertised as stainless steel. The walls of the carafe are so thin as to offer little heat retention. The top is designed to allow coffee to spill out if you tilt the carafe too much while pouring, e.g., the top does not seal. As the unit ages, the top becomes more warped. I really expected better from a Cuisinart product.

I just had my first cup of coffee using this coffeemaker. Delicious! I used 2 cups water to 2 scoops coffee grounds and it filled my 10oz solo (to go) foam coffee cup to a good level, enough to add my hazelnut coffeemate creamer. This makes one cup of coffee. (For two cups of coffee, I would need 4 cups water, 4 scoops coffee.) Love how this coffeemaker provides some coffee filters and a scooper. It also has a small filter that you can use if you are using tap water. I never use tap water, it's loaded with chemicals. I use a Poland Springs 16oz bottle of water. (I stock up on 24 packs of Poland Springs when I food shop.) It's small and adorable and fits nicely in my small kitchen that doesn't have alot of counter space. While reading reviews, people said it leaks...it doesn't leak if you carefully line up the coffee pot under the water spout, just look under the spout, make sure its lined up and that the water flows out into the 3 holes. I usually just have one cup of coffee, but I like that it stays warm for 30 minutes. You do have to make sure you turn it off afterwards, make sure the blue light goes out. It tastes so good that I may want to make another cup. Lol. Love it. Glad I was able to get this Cuisinart coffeemaker on the Black Friday deal...regularly $65 but got it for $47! Yay! :) I will read the instructions to see how to wash it and how easy it is to hand wash, if I encounter any problems, I will update my review. I usually do a deescalation every 2 wks or once a month using vinegar and the instructions tell you have much water and vinegar to use. Treat it well and it will treat you well.

My husband and I love this coffee maker because the coffee taste good and it is easy to use. This machine is also very reliable. We are purchasing another one because we don't want to take the chance that it would be discontinued or breakdown one day.

Cuisnart seems to have a knack for making good products that come with obvious design flaws. For years they were the only company we could find that made a small 4-5 cup cone - drip coffee maker. This seems to be an updated version. The older one my wife and I purchased at least 4 times because the paint on the heated pad the carafe sits on would start to peel off after a month or two of use and it looks bad. Still the size was right for a couple getting ready to head off to work in the morning and the price point was nice at around $30 -$40 depending on where you found it. This newer version corrected that problem but added a new one. The plastic rim of the carafe hangs over the interior by about a quarter of an inch. The result is that after you wash it and leave it upside down in the dish drainer of night, then turn it over to make coffee the next morning you get a puddle of water in the bottom of the carafe that has to be wiped and dried before you can make coffee. You would think that someone would try using these products before they go into mass production but, hey I'm just a consumer. We're looking to replace the unit with one without this annoying flaw if we can find one that's small for 4 cups or so.

I've mostly ever used Keurig coffee makers, but I find they are not worth what I pay for them. I switched to a simple Mr. Coffee unit and it tasted horrible, no matter how often I rinsed it, ran vinegar through it, multiple cups of coffee.. there was always just a plastic-y strange taste. Found this little Cuisinart guy and I love it. It's just simple, easy to clean, easy to prepare. A bit pricey, but I expect great things from this brand. My first cup this morning was delicious and I hope it lasts. The pot isn't thermal but I love the steel because it will get banged around in the sink while doing dishes, I'm sure. I've never had issues with this brand so far! (I do want to add that the water filter insert seems completely pointless as there is a gap between the filter and where the water goes into the machine, so unfiltered water would go in?)

Third day with this machine and it's great. I like being able to take the water reservoir off and rinse it -- as opposed to machines where it cannot be removed and thus may be growing all kinds of things unless you're diligent enough to do the vinegar rinse periodically. Perfect for one person -- it brews about 2 medium sized mugs. And the coffee comes out HOT. It replaces a 10-cup machine that I never used to the max and that has who knows what swimming in the reservoir. Nothin negative to say, just a great compact machine for 1 or 2 people.
