Amazing technology enabled Chess board!
Ordered this for my 9 year old who is learning to play Chess. While some may say its priced higher, you have to use it understand why its worth that totally. To start of with, this is very well packed, the box quality is amazing so storing it is not an hassle after a game. The packaging is robust and will last a long time. The board is magnetic, and had lights and voice notes to guide you.We are still trying to understand all the modes and features, but did play a few test games and immediately fell in love with this Chess board. Its designed to be used for people of all proficiencies right from beginner to expert! So this will go anlong way too!Highly recommended!

Helpful and Fun
This electric chess board has so many features from teaching my kids how to play chess, understanding the rules, and prevents them from cheating. Additionally, it has LED and talks when there is an issue or when a move is not possible. This chess board doesn’t have to be played with another person but can also be played with against the chessboard itself that includes a variety of levels. I’m happy with this purchase knowing my kids will benefit from learning a variety of chess skills using this electric chessboard. Highly recommend.

Pretty good even for a beginner, minor flaws
I am very much a beginner at chess. While I can consistently beat ELO 800 bots on chess.com, I still have trouble winning against a random 600 human; so that's where I'm at. The V6 has pretty comfortable beginner levels: after trying it for 2 days I found that I can beat Level 9 (estimated ELO 700~799) with some effort. Unlike that other popular, cheaper model sold under many names and brands like Talking Chess Academy/Voice Master; that model was pretty unforgiving even at "Fun" levels.A note on levels and rating: Vonset stated that the level ELO rating is estimated after playing against chess.com players; I have my doubts since it still suffers from the common chess engine problem: to reduce its strength it would occasionally play really bad moves (like hanging a queen) to give player an advantage, instead of a more human-like systemic weakness (like neglecting king safety). This often means the ELO rating is somewhat overrated compared to human players. So far I have been enjoying this a lot. However, there are some issues that could be improved in a later version, or hopefully patched via software if possible.1. The AI seemed to always use the same opening after a reboot if you play e4: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6. There is a work around: after 1.e4e5 you can take back your move. It will play a different opening if you play 1.e4 again. I guess it is a software bug in randomization.2. The "remove at least one piece from starting position" requirement to use the review function is honestly pretty dumb. Review should work regardless of board position.3. Time controls with increments (like 15|10) would be nice to have. Also it is a bit funny that you don't actually lose even if you ran out of time. It seemed like this function was not fully implemented. Finally, I regret not buying the wooden pieces along with my purchase, because the included plastic pieces were, frankly, horrible. I own a much better set of magnetic chess pieces; but I found that the board requires stronger neodymium magnets to trigger the induction sensors. My old set with weak ferrite magnets could not work properly with this board.

Malfunctions
Product constantly flags illegal moves when moves are perfectly fine. The board doesn't allow me to progress beyond the second move without flagging it as illegal. The manual states a disclaimer in which the company doesn't take responsibility for defects in the chess boards operation. I do not recommend this product. Do not buy!

The electronic chess board is an incredible innovation. Its digital interface enhances the traditional game of chess. The ability to play against computer opponents of varying difficulties adds excitement and challenge. Overall, it's a fantastic tool for both beginners and experienced players to sharpen their skills.

Surface develps bubbles and some chess pieces too similar to decide which is which
I loved the unit except for the close similarity of pieces and within days it developed bubbles on it's surface. Now I am going around in circles for the refund since instead of allowing me to print out a return label and return it to ups, I am waiting for UPS to pick it up with no idea when they might show up. And several other users reported in the questions the same problems with the unit. I hope they work out the bugs but for now I will opt for another brand.

Worth every penny, best way to learn and practice
TLDR; Playing on this chessboard beats the experience of playing onlineI usually play chess and solve chess puzzles online. But, after using this board for about 2 weeks now, I can say that I am not going back to play chess online (atleast against computer). I think it is more helpful to beginners like me as it emulates a real world environment as I can setup openings and play alternate moves while learning from books . Battery backup is amazing - gives about a week to me with regular use. Drawers to keep the pieces makes it easy to carry anywhere.

You can win even you don’t know how to play
I bought this for my daughter, she just had some chess class and want to play at home as well. I don’t know how to play so decided to get this AI enabled chess so I can play with my daughter. So basically my daughter and I were working together to against level 1 AI, and followed by the LED light suggesting moves, we actually won sometimes. I know the level 1 AI is kind of foolish but it is fun to defeat AI and actually learn how to play. Really fun.

Mixed impression
UPDATE: MAY 14, 2024:After leaving my initial review the company contacted me of their own accord. I clarified the issues with the bubbling board, and once all confirmed they sent me a new set. The difference is remarkable. It is much better to play on, and other issues we were having with squares not lighting up were resolved. I give the set a 5-star rating based on my overall impression and the company service, which was excellent and unexpected. Depending on the price, however, I would temper the star-rating. At about $200 or less, it is a sweet spot and well worth the money. If it's too far above that, I would drop it to 4-stars, considering value for money. With the extra effort made by the company, however, I am overall very satisfied.Original Review (FEB 3, 2024):The chess set does what it says. A stand-alone chess computer, so you don't need to be online to play. Great for kids. It's motivating both my (youngish) kids to learn, and they can play as much as they want. The surface is not attached properly, and from other reviews I believe they simply don't glue it. It feels kind of cheap and it's worth buying separate wood chess pieces (also available from Vonset) to replace the clear ones that come with it. Price is too expensive for what it does and the lower quality. $150 would be a fair price. I do recommend it, but you just need to know the various caveats to avoid disappointment.

Excellent item
This is a birthday gift I bought for my son. My son likes playing chess very much, but I don't want him to play in front of the screen every day. So I decided to buy this electronic chess set. I think it is very suitable for children to practice chess and improve chess skills. Also it can be practiced for different levels. The chess board is magnetic, the pieces are no easy to fall off. It is easy to use, the voice is clear, and the quality is good. I haven't found any problems yet, and I am very satisfied with it overall.

High quality e-chess board that helps develop gameplay and Iogical thinking
Vonset Core L6 Computer Chess Game Electronic Chess Set Computer Chess Board with LED Light Chess Computer for Adults and Kids with Double Queen Pieces for Beginners5*$299.00 at time of writing. $20.00 coupon available. My grandsons (6,7 & 8 yo) have recently taken up chess. This Vonset chess computer is perfect for improving their confidence and game playing skills (working from Novice to Expert levels with 20 competition levels ). Voice hints are available, if desired. The board encourages correct piece movement, a great way to make legitimate movements second nature.Using the board does require patience whilst learning it's intricacies. The learning curve is controllable as/if required and experiential learning (learning by doing) is encouraged. Confidence is easy to build as most procedures are intuitive. The AI is impressive. The board is light weight and very colourful (LEDs) indicating potential good/ bad / available moves. The chess pieces are lightweight and magnetic, affording board repositioning, without the worry of dropping/ losing them. The board has an integral chess piece tray (can't be used when game in play ). The tray is both useful and important as the board will not work without all of the pieces available on the board (there are a couple of spare queens... a few other extras would be a welcome addition). The rechargeable battery has a decent ~ 8 hour use on one charge. The HD ink screen means that readability is good, even in bright light or if playing outdoors. The board is very portable. This is a fun way to learn/improve chess skills and a great way to develop critical thinking in a safe environment. The price point reflects quality and usability. The present $20 discount is a nice bonus.Highly recommended.

Awesome chess board
The product is wonderful. There is an ai built in the system which has different difficulties to go against. It is easy to use because there are instructions. Setting up the board is also easy because it will show how to set up the chess pieces and whenever it’s your turn or the opposition, it shows all the possible moves for the piece that might move,
