I read the reviews before purchasing the bags and obviously it was noted that there is a bit of a smell that comes from the leather. "Great!" thought I, as I love the smell of leather... Please beware that, after receiving this bag, it has come to my attention that not all leather smells the same! When leather is less expensive, but still genuine and untreated, then the smell is quite acrid and almost puts me in mind of urine. It's certainly not the "leather" smell I had been expecting.Having since read up on this smell issue, it seems the pungent odour that emanates from this bag is most likely a product of the tanning process and, less high end suppliers, tend to spend less on the chemicals therefore giving their products a slight tinge of stink.The bag itself is lovely, a little lighter colour leather than was shown in the pic, but still feels great and looks the part. I've read a few online tips about getting rid of the smell which I've yet to try, I guess I had hoped that it would dissipate on its own by now (2 weeks since delivery) but no luck yet. I may need to do some trial and error first...

I was a little hesitant about ordering from Gusti Leder due to the reviews mentioning a hint of "eau de goat" on the product. Additionally my wife claims that anything made from, or of, goat will always smell of goat. This isn't a perfume she is fond of. However the price was very good, the bag looked good and Amazon have an excellent returns service so I went for it. I was very pleased to find not even the slightest whiff of any animal about the bag. The colour was great and the bag felt lovely. It's a generous size with just the right number of pockets. It's also unusual without being outrageous, certainly not something you'll find in any high Street shop. I have had many of my friends ask about the bag and ask for more details. I'm very pleased indeed and will continue to sing the praises of my free range goat bag!

I was looking for a nice and tidy leather bag for ages and this was the one I ordered. The bag arrived bang on time and was packaged well and my first impression was good. Everything about the bag was as expected and I believe this is a bag that will grow old with me as I use it every day. I'm delighted about the quality of the bag, the smell of the bag (wonderful!) and the spaciousness. It is a fabulous product at a great price and I highly recommend this to anyone on the hunt for a quality leather bag.

An excellent product! Very light, great size for a 16 inch laptop, files and loose papers, stationery, keys etc. Very strong leather from a goat skin, stylish, great colour, very natural and with a retro look. This bag is exactly what I wanted for my office and personal documents and is used on a daily basis and at weekends. I also very much like the set up of how and where these bags are made; check out the video of the bags being made by a family in India/Africa. Great concept and supports smaller family cottage industries.

very well made bag' fast delivery and better than anything on the high street for twice the price. bargain, also the little touches like a free polish and a leather ear phone clip on still in packet with €5 price. i dont know about this smell thing, its not unpleasent and doesnt last long, dont these people know about scent or oils, then again they could pay twice this on the high street with no smell. hope this is of some help.

Absolutely brilliant - I had my initially worries primarily because of the low price however this is perfect. Fits my laptop and everything else i need. Looks great, comes with dubbing and is very hard wearing - I have had it for 8 months now and its still in very good condition which is amazing considering i wear it every weekday!BUY THIS BAG. Its brilliant if you want a cheap leather bag that is of really good quality

On receipt I thought this a great bag. However, on reading the label it said that do not wear with light clothes as it may stain from the leather. As I wear white a lot in the summer I had to return the bag. Hope to find something as good which does not stain.

I just wanted to write a review for those worried about purchasing this item because of the smell.Yes there is a smell to it. Is it strong? Not really, I am sitting at my desk next to it and can't smell it.For the price, the quality is superb and you get wax for the leather.
