Great device but overpriced
There's not a lot of competition for this thing, so they're able to charge a premium price. Is it worth it? Well, that's up to you to decide. Is it nice? Absolutely. I installed this unit in my gray market Citroen XM, and it fits perfectly, both literally and figuratively. It looks every bit the part of a 1990 car stero, while still adding bluetooth streaming, BT phone audio, and SD card functionality. It's great to be able to listen to my 90s playlist while still getting Google Maps instructions over the sound. This unit is a nice upgrade from the Bremen they were selling last year. I have one of those in my other Radwood-era car, and this one feels much higher quality. The knobs don't wiggle around like they do in the Bremen, the buttons feel "clickier" and firmer, and the display is crisper. It all but disappears in direct sunlight, but isn't that what 90s decks did? I'll spare that criticism since it seems era-appropriate. If your goal is to stream Depeche Mode on your way to a Radwood meetup, this thing is perfect. Whether you agree with the $500 pricetag is up to you. Overpriced? I sure think so, but I bought it anyways. Edit: a year later I'd like to update this. After replacing every speaker in the car and upgrading the front to separates, it still sounded terrible. Flat, no clarity, zero low end. I ended up swapping this head unit for a Kenwood and magically the highs were clear and crisp, and the range came back. This is a poor quality unit in a pretty package. For the price it should be better.

Retro-ish style and quality is worth it
Pricey as hell, but there isn't another head unit that I would want for my 1994 Jaguar XJS. It looks (and fits) like an OEM unit; not those bizarro after-market units with all the childish flashing lights. This connected easily with an adapter harness found on eBay (had to switch around a couple of wires, but no big deal). Bluetooth works perfectly with my old iPhone, and it sounds great.

Awesome nostalgia
Great head unit that fits my my 2000 BMW M Roadster interior. It really opened up the OEM amp and speakers. It’s going to be even better when I upgrade those items. The color is adjustable to any color your interior is. It’s doesn’t dim with the car, but you can set the daytime brightness and the brightness when you switch the interior lights or headlights on.

no factory tech support
great looking unit in this vintage install. as mentioned in other reviews, it is a bit limited in tone adjust-ability. Other than that it has lots of features and great instant blue tooth connectivity. I had some installation issues and questions and discovered that factory tech support is non existent. No return phone calls= no detailed tech support.

Blietooth Nearly Useless, cheap build quality.
Bluetooth audio for music is poor, even if using an external amplifier. Using USB improves it, so it's definitely an issue with Bluetooth implementation. Bluetooth calls are such low quality, you can barely understand what the person on the other end is saying. I had to return the first unit because one of the buttons would stick. The buttons are cheap click type on top of that, i was surprised to not have soft membrane type buttons at the price range. I bought this radio because it was the only retro styled radio I could find with modern features like Bluetooth. But Bluetooth is hardly usable, so it completely fails in that regard. Insane for a $515 dollar product.

Don't Hesitate. Great Radio.
Very nice Head unit. Easy install and so far works flawlessly. Not sure why some feel the buttons are cheap but it feels like a top quality product for me. Looks great in my lotus. Thank you blaupunkt for making these, because options are slim. Especially if your looking for Rca outputs.

Nice unit. So many submenus it's hard to navigate.
First unit sent to me was bent. Looked like it happened at the factory. But the unit sent to me was not packaged well. Stuck into a plastic UPS bag, so only the OEM packaging protected it. We get toothbrushes packaged better than that. Sent it back. It got lost. Took 3 weeks to get a refund, but finally did. Purchased another one and it did come well packaged. Installed in my '88 E30 vert with help from a shop. Fits perfectly. Only issues I have is (1) price (but I suspect it's a low volume unit so... ) and (2) that Blaupunkt didn't created a US version with HD radio. Only DAB, which is European. But I usually use Bluetooth so it's not that big a deal. BT connected quickly with a strong connection. Colors match the stupid BMW red LEDs. All in all, after biting my lip at the price for about 2 weeks, I'm happy I got it. Better that then the money I would have had to spend fixing my 30 year old OEM radio.

Old school vibes...
Old school vibes with clear sound and non delayed Bluetooth streaming. Zerobsound delays for me streaming YouTube or any other service. Works and looks great!

Fitted this to my 1973 VW camper - I've had a few stereos over the years and never been happy with the modern look. This one is almost perfect - easy to select FM, AM, DAB or bluetooth and the bluetooth option is quick and uncomplicated to pair - no additional apps needed (thankfully). Almost plug and play for me, only thing I had to do was turn down the gain on my sub. Buttons are well laid out so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to select something different. Physically It's quite a shallow unit and lightweight as well. Nice touch is the connector on the unit itself which is standard ISO (rather than a proprietary connector block). There's a pair of ISO connectors with bare ends included as well. Took ten minutes to fit and looks fantastic, menus are intuitive and parameters easy to change. There's no CD player but it can play micro SD cards so it's just a case of using them instead. Yes it's expensive compared to some other units on the market, but it looks classy, sounds great and the sheer simplicity of the layout is well worth the price.
