Schneider PE umbrella stand, white, ca. 45 litres

Does very well exactly what you would expect
If you want a parasol stand that will hold any pole during a hurricane, this is probably it.It's big - Around 48 cm square. It's heavy when filled with water although the roller wheel that's built into it makes it fairly easy to move over shortish distances. The description says that it is for poles between 50mm and 38mm. I'm actually using it on a 35mm pole and it is fine, although it couldn't go any tighter than that. The clamping mechanism reduces the hole by screwing a thread and so any dimension of pole between 50mm and 35mm can be accommodated. It does exactly what is says on the tin. The only consideration you might like to make is whether you need something quite so robust. Smaller parasol stands are prettier and easier to move. Is it that windy where you live?Suggestion for design modification:I use three parasol bases in my garden to support poles. This base and two metal bases. They all suffer from the same design flaw:The section that contains the pole has no drain holes. However good the fit of the pole, this means that poles sit in water and rot more quickly than they otherwise would. In this product, the pole support section of this base is separate from the water containing element and is made of thick plastic. I have drilled a drain hole through the bottom of it with no impact on its structural integrity. Thus the wooden pole base will never be submerged.I have also drilled holes in the sides, at the bottom, of my two other metal bases to the same purpose. Why don't the manufacturers do that?

...i've been looking for something to cope with a large free standing garden umbrella for some time -i saw darker models of this base but i didn't want to pay £50 plus -i was so pleased i found this baby at less than half that price ...it arrived on time, was easy to set up...the only warning i would give would be to say that getting the umbrella shaft in the right place and locking it with the fixing screw may need two people -especially if you are -how can i say 'muscularly challenged' - i filled ours with water using our garden hose -i filled set it up and filled it where it would be used, however, there is a kind of moulded handle on the opposite side to the wheels and even with the umbrella in place ( furled ), it is reasonably easy to move -easier then i thought it would be...i would definitely buy again should i need one...especially at that price...i will add a comment if it does not prove to be durable, however so far very very good...

Great Product
I bought this to hold my rotary washing line, it does the job brilliantly.Once filled with sand or water it is amazingly sturdy. It will support a full load of washing even in very strong winds.

This product, once modified, does the job well. It is a formed plastic product and the casting pieces, especially around the screw device that hold the garden umbrella, need some trimming with a Stanley knife or similar. Once you have done that and apply a little lubricant to the screw threads and tighten really hard it will work OK. I was thinking of giving it 2 or 3 stars because of the problems BUT it is heavy (when filled with water) more cube shaped so fits under a garden table well (let's you have room for your feet) can support a large garden umbrella - even if t you forget and left it out in strong winds. I have read other reviews that added a spacer to make the umbrella fit if you are reasonably handy with DIY you'll spot the problem with the plastic screw holder, trim it and therefore wont have to 'bodge it' with an ill fitting spacer. Manufacturer needs to correct this 'cos otherwise a good product. Oh easy to fill and has an inbuilt wheel - easy to manoeuvre too.

Works for garden parasols with stem diameter up to 5cm (circumference 157mm)
Most certainly NOT an "umbrella stand", but a base for a garden parasol.Useful for our medium sized parasol, for light breeze. Base is heavy, and though there is a roller this is useful on a firm level grass surface and smooth surfaces - struggles on gravel. Filling and emptying with water is fine - not sure I'd want to empty sand out, as it would be seriously heavy. The base is heavy, quite tall (watch if you have a parasol going through a table with low wooden parts), but a relatively small base area - so not as stable as it could be, had it been designed to add extension legs. For safety, always lower the parasol if the wind gets up, and remove the parasol if high winds are expected.Being plastic, I'm not sure if it may biodegrade after a number of years of use. I could not find a "recycle" symbol on it.

Old skool quality
This is so 1980s so it has to be good? Love it. Really does the trick. Fill it with water and it holds the largest of sun umbrellas. Old skool never lets you down. Great purchase.
