Yes, there are some nylon fillers that help you get it through your hair for detangling. Pure Boar bristles can be too soft.

I used warm water and small amount of shampoo. My brush has no odor, and I absolutely love it! I would give it 5 stars, but it was purchased for me as a gift, so I’m unable to write a review.
