Review: Very Good Little Amp - I am quite picky and want a clean, high-quality sound with plenty of volume when it comes to hifi. This is a very compact little amp (40mm high, 120mm wide and 160mm deep). It has a good quality feel and a reasonable weight to it. I am using it to drive 2 Q Acoustic Speakers (2020i) that are rated 75 watts at 6 Ohms. I have the amp connected via banana plugs. I would say the amp matches these really well and drives the speakers fully. Not too much and not too little. At max volume there is a touch of distortion but not that much and honestly whilst I do like loud music, I would not really want my music that loud in the kitchen, I have another set up for that elsewhere. The treble and base adjustment may in some ways seem old fashioned but I really like them as you can give it a little more base or treble depending on your speakers, the music and of course your personal preference. You can get graphic equalisers to add to your phone, etc, but the on-amp adjustment just seems more accessible. I am not using the bass driver and honestly I do not think I will. So why did I buy this amp when Fosi do a version with no bass driver? Well, desertcart had a discount that made this version only £5 more than the non-bass driver version. Another reason though was that this comes with a 32 volt power supply and the non-bass driver version ships with the 24 volt supply but can be upgraded to the 48 volt supply. This means you will not get full performance if you only buy the one that ships with 24 volt supply. You can upgrade on the Fosi website but not on the desertcart website. You can buy the 48volt power supply separately on desertcart but this pushes the price up quite a bit. So, therefore I preferred this slightly higher spec model that ships with the 32 volt supply from desertcart and this is the max supply allowed for this unit, I think. That was my logic and it would be interesting to know what Fosi themselves think about this and whether my deductions were correct. I think Fosi should add the 48 volt power supply option to the non-bass driver unit on desertcart. I use this in my kitchen and for me a key selling point is the size. I have built it in to the bottom of one of my kitchen cupboards and of course its small size means it is very discrete. The Bluetooth works fine. Still good volume. It connects easily and makes a little bleep to signal connection. You can also connect directly if you have the right cables. The sound quality and volume are marginally higher and cleaner when connected directly, but the Bluetooth still sounds good. My arrangement slightly compromises the view to the Bluetooth antenna, which I have rotated so it is exposed somewhat. This does not seem to make much difference and the range is still fine. I am using it with iPads, iPhones and Samsung phones. All work fine. So I am very happy with this Fosi unit but I would recommend you look at their full range, perhaps on their website before you decide the best one for you. I went for desertcart because I knew it would come quickly and be an easy return if I did not like it. I am a bit shocked and pleasantly surprised that such a tiny and affordable little unit can be so good. Well done Fosi. (Ultimately I decided to get the non-bass model with the 48 volt power supply. This does give slightly greater volume with less distortion which is why I have updated this review.)
Review: Great compact amplifier - Last year I had bought a Tangent Ampster BT II amplifier, which had worked great, however it recently had an issue with the power switch, so had to be sent away for repair. As I used it in my office I needed a replacement and decided to order this amplifier. I thought the Tangent Ampster was small, but this BT20A amplifier is ridiculously small! This is mainly as the power supply is external to the amplifier, which itself is bigger than the amplifier. I have it connected to a pair of Mission LX-1 MKII speakers, and I am happy to say that this amplifier easily runs these speakers, with no sign of distortion. I appreciate the treble and bass controls, as by default the treble did sound lacking and a bit stifled. The dials are nice and smooth, and the power switch toggle works without issue. At this size and price you only get 1 set of RCA inputs and 1 set of speaker outputs, but for my use case this is fine. Bluetooth works seamlessly, and the audio quality is about on par with direct RCA connection. Be aware that if you connect via bluetooth it will override the RCA input, even with no music played over bluetooth. I will say, as others have, that being able to connect to the amplifier via bluetooth without being asked for a code is a potential issue, I live in a block of apartments, so anyone could connect to it if they tried. I don't hear any hissing when not playing music, so that is another plus. Overall a great little amplifier for the price, once my other amp is back from repair I will probably relegate that to the living room as it has a remote control that is more useful.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant Budget Audio
*by M***E on 1 December 2024*

Having had a few different hifi setups in my time, I am pleasantly surprised by this latest purchase. I'll list some pros and cons and then give a bit more information about this Fosi Audio amplifier. Pros: - Size: I have a Denon amplifier and Mission bookshelf speakers. The Denon amplifier is amazing, but it's large and I haven't had enough space to put the amp and speakers together on a surface. It's probably the main reason I bought this product. It means I can still use my lovely mission speakers, and the speakers and Fosi amp all fit on a surface I have free. - Sound: If you are getting this, having never had a proper amp+speakers hifi setup, it's probably going to blow you away. The sound quality is very impressive for such a small unit. Having the treble and bass controls are a nice touch. Pair this little amp with some decent speakers and you'll be happy. For the price and considering the size, it's wonderful. - Bluetooth: Nowadays, for the sake of convenience, I use Bluetooth for my music often. Music does sound very good simply streamed from my phone through Bluetooth to the Fosi unit. There is an RCA out for any peripherals (such as a turntable or cd player etc). I haven't had any issues using the Bluetooth. -Build: The unit is made of metal. I've read some reviews mentioning the switches felt cheap or loose....maybe I'm lucky, but mine is fine. Great build quality and sturdy controls and ports. Cons: I can't really think of any. My Denon amp is a fair bit better than this unit in terms of sound and power output, but buying a new amp similar to my Denon unit would cost in excess of £300. And there isn't exactly a huge difference between them. This amplifier got my wonderful Mission speakers back into action and since I've had the amplifier, it's made listening to music really exciting again. I'd say it's good enough for bedrooms or small living rooms. If the room you have it in is particularly big, you may need something a little more powerful. Having a remote control would have been a nice addition. Ultimately, im really impressed with this. It's a quality audio product for not much money. Pair it with some quality speakers and you won't be disappointed.
