Very good, Nice heat and long lasting
After reading some mixed reviews I wanted to give a realistic view on this device. Firstly I was let down by another non amazon supplier on the Zippo Fluid so ended up buying Coleman fuel from Cotswold with a little trepidation! The good news is that Coleman fuel works a treat and for just £9 a litre its cheap. I followed the instructions precisely and on the first use carefully put 12 hours of fuel in and then importantly left it upright for 5 minutes for the vapour to spread. I then lit the top of the catalyser with a butane lighter for about 10 - 15 seconds. Now initially it was just lukewarm and I was worried that was as good as it might get..... but after about 20 minutes was getting hotter nicely while still in the sock, now what I didn't realise is that if you open the sock up it lets in more oxygen and gets hotter and if you pull the sock down a bit it gets really hot, in fact too hot to touch the metal. It seems to work really well in a pocket with the top of the sock cord not too tight. The effect of being in a coat or trouser pocket seems to insulate the heat nicely.I did a heat test using a baking thermometer on the outside of the metal case and it reached over 70 deg Celsius opened right up so all the vents showed with the sock just half covering and then with the sock completely over it and the cord loose went back to about 45 Deg. You can see the catalyst glowing orange in the dark and if you blow on it, its glows more brightly hence the heat being controlled via oxygen access. Its now nice and warm still after 11 hours of lighting. If you buy Coleman fuel it has a large neck on the bottle so I made a bigger hole with a modelling knife in the little small filler bottle that comes with the Handwarmer. It appears that the Zippo 125 ml fuel has a small spout which is probably easier. The Coleman fuel has a slight odor close up but isn't noticeable once the warmer is in a pocket and people say the same about Zippo fuel. Its a nice tactile feel with the curved edges and makes it feel very slim, it seems well made and for the price will be good value compared to the chemical hand warmers I also use which still have there uses in gloves and shoes (The 12 hour Zippo is just a little too large)This Zippo is going to be just great for Winter Cycling. Motorbiking, Skiing and Winter walks - Happy Days!!

Great quality handwarmer
Sort of what you expect from the zippo brand. Quality and it delivers.Used on so many occasions over the winter. Lights easily with a small lighter for cigarettes as an example. Housed in a small velvet feel bag if required, which comes with it.If you want extra heat, remove from the bag for a short period. It doesn't get red hot which from a safety point of view, you'd expect. Fits in the hand nicely and really made my fishing trips far more enjoyable and productive as it keeps fingers warm and nimble so that you can tie knots confidently and quickly, as an example. It comes with a small plastic container to refill it with lighter fluid and it'll last nearly all day if required.Extremely happy with this gadget and most of all, it's been perfectly safe stored in a pocket etc.

Stays hot for ages
Superb product that stays hot for a long period of time. Far superior to disposable hand warmers which don’t pack anything like the same punch

Good but !
I have had this hand warmer for a couple of months. I use when I play winter golf. It gets quite warm when in its protective pouch . When out of its pouch it gets almost to warm to touch. Filling and lighting the hand warmer was done in less than 5 minutes and it lasted way longer than my round even when only half filled.Problems I have had were that the catalytic burner occasionally came loose during my round and so burner went “out “. About 5 weeks in the ‘ copper washer’ came out of the catalytic burner . I did push back in but the reliability didn’t seem to be there. So I had to purchase a replacement burner . Lately I have had a problem with warmer going out during my round. Not sure if this is to do with the fact that my rain gear is windproof and maybe burner not getting enough air when in my pocket.Despite all this I do like the Zippo hand warmer. It has a satisfying feel about it .

Excellent
Perfect for those cold wintery days. Doesn't smell horrible and gets really really hot. Ideal whilst out, waking the dog or other outdoor activities. A definite recommendation for anyone who suffers from cold hands.

Take a little while to warm up, but worth the wait
Although the heat instant from these, after an hour or two you can really start to feel the warmth. It's a very lightweight unit and it wasnt for the large size, it would be unnoticeable to carry. The larger size, however, is probably for the better when you need to warm your warm your hands. So far I have carried these in my gloves when riding my bike in winter, and also used one under my t-shirt when walking. The hand warmer must be placed in the fabric pouch (included) when in use. I did remove it from this pouch a couple of times for a quick boost on my hands - but I figured this was just letting in more wind and making the element burn out quicker. The unit was easy to light after watching a quick YouTube video - with the element being visibly red when lit. The element is the bit that burns slowly, and will need to be replaced over time.I chose these over electric handwarmers as I'm hoping a zippo product will last me a lifetime

Great little gadget, better than disposable ones
This really does last ages, and keeps your hands nice and warm. I got the same one about 12 years ago for my dad and its still working perfectly. He lost the measuring cup so I got him another one, one for each pocket now. The warmth is great, long lasting- 12 hours at least. He uses them at work as a security guard while doing rounds.
