Why Am I Like This?: How to Break Cycles, Heal from Trauma, and Restore Your Faith

Bought the book in the middle of watching her on Table With AO and…
I was blown away at the way she conducted the interview with AO on YouTube and in the middle of the interview I went and bought the book and paid extra to receive same day. Why? Because I’ve been on a healing journey for 2 years and everything she was saying resonated with the things I’ve experienced mentally and spiritually on this journey. Right before seeing this also, I had realized I reached a place in my journey and I couldn’t do it alone, so I started seeing a therapist. Hearing her validate that decision in the interview was reaffirmation from God that I was on the right track.I devoured the book. It was the perfect blend of science and spirituality, anecdotes and advice. I learned so much from it and had so many validating moments.I even was able to confront a situation involving inappropriate touching from my childhood that had negatively impacted me for so long and felt empowered enough to reach out to those it involved. God was present in the working out of that situation and I give thanks.I was able to close the chapter on a few different aspects of trauma and really get a better understanding of the work I still need to do in confronting my triggers, but just the validation throughout the book that God accepts me — the anxiety riddled, type A, oldest child with impossible expectations who eventually cracked, abandoned, abused, overwhelmed with breaking generational curses, isolated, seeking peace version of em — was freeing. I have gotten to know myself better and have actively started seeking Gods face without being afraid he will be disappointed in me for not coming to his presence in a state of perfection.I highly recommend this book.

Sucked me in from the start
Everyone has their own journey as to why they’re reading this book. May or may not relate to the first chapter, but we all understand distractions. Haven’t finished it yet, but it is very well written. Really makes you think about life. I didn’t expect it to be as religious as it was. But it is powerful.

Small Book, Immensely Cathartic!
KOBE CAMPBELL, Thank you for sharing what I didn't even dare think. Thank you for showing me how to embrace what I needed to think, to stare at, to share, to resolve it.. Thank you for making your relationship with God the Guiding Light in your work and for sharing and encouraging us on the continuous journey to the Light.

best book on trauma I’ve read
Coming from someone on a healing journey, this book was an amazing resource and encouragement. I liked how it had a mixture of knowledge and resources - teaching about the brain and trauma and how that relates to Jesus, while also teaching tools and ways to process that trauma.SO many gold nugget truths in these pages. I can’t wait to read it again, this time in a book study!Thank you Kobe for your vulnerability, sharing your experiences, and for helping me in my journey through your book! I’d give it 100 stars if I could ⭐️

She's so mother for this
Kobe has such a masterful way with words that makes her compassion tangible through these pages. This book is so tender, so powerful, and so very necessary. Her combining of faith-based principles and practices with evidence-backed mental health resources and coping skills is brilliant, and it's presented in such a loving and encouraging way that you can't help but be wrapped up in the hope she holds for you and your future. 10/10 Kobe slay.
