Great sound, terrible design
The sound for the price of these earphones are amazing I've been using the every day for the past month and a half. During my use I have found multiple issues all stemming from the cable used and rockjaws choice to not use a right angled jack. The jack it's self keeps falling out of my phone requiring it to positioned in a way where a force is constantly applied to it causing wear. The issues I have encountered are:Music drops out/stopsHeadphone Jack does not fit properly and falls out with slightest movement'sSongs randomly changeDistortion in sound due to cableComplete cable failureAll of these issues have occurred in less than two months of use absolutely unacceptable for the price of these earphones.

Fine tuning to your sound preferences is possible with the ...
I have to agree with everything written in previous reviews ; the clarity of sound and separation achieved by the Rock Jaw Resonates is incredible! Unlike most in ear phones the bass doesn't dominate the listening experience but due emphasis is placed on clarity in the middle & upper frequency ranges. Fine tuning to your sound preferences is possible with the interchangeable filters (I use the green bass filters which give just enough bass without sacrificing the excellent upper frequency response). I'd liken the Resonates v other similarly priced earphones to listening to say a set of British Bowers & Wilkins or Ruark Hi-fi speakers compared to a pair of say 1980s Sony speakers). Ok, so why you ask only a 3 star rating? Well, as one previous reviewer mentioned, the Resonates come with a straight, rather than right angled, 3.5mm jack - something I was hesitant about before ordering. This makes the connection highly vulnerable to knocks. Possibly not so much when used with a phone or mp3 player but definitely more so when used with a heavier source such as an ipad. In my case, listening to music on my ipad mini, the ipad slipped off the sofa onto carpeted floor & the jack snapped off leaving the pin inside the head phone socket. I now have the choice of a potentially expensive repair to remove the broken pin or face purchasing a set of bluetooth headphones. As I'm sure the cable is minor cost item compared to the earpieces /drivers themselves I'd recommend changing the cable to one with a right angled connection if listening on something other than a phone (are you listening Rock Jaw?!).

The sound quality (especially on the midrange) is as good as you'll get for this price
These headphones were a significant upgrade from my last set. The sound quality (especially on the midrange) is as good as you'll get for this price. While I did find an issue with the cable after a few months of solid use, when I went to RockJaw about my issues they replaced the cable for free with no hassle.

Expensive headphones broke rapidly
They broke a month after I bought them. The plastic fitting behind the earbud fell off.I had them fixed. They broke again. Now only one side works.

Hooked on these earphones
This is my third set of Rock Jaw earphones. The first set were the Alpha Genus model and they were purchased to replace some Sennheisers which had failed due to cable fatigue. The Alphas were chosen because I was looking for something more robust that gave a good sound and would not break the bank. I was very impressed with the improvement in sound quality but sadly my Alphas lost a battle with the vacuum cleaner. Moral of story – don’t leave any part of the earphones trailing on the floor.I immediately purchased another set of Alphas which lasted until my I-pad slipped off my bedside table and landed earphone jack first. I note that other reviewers have suggested that the Resonates would benefit from a right angled jack. This may indeed be better but the right angled jack on the Alphas did not prevent any damage, the jack was bent at an angle and the result was sound dropping out and unwanted interruptions from SIRI on the slightest movement. I am now very careful to place my I-pad in a position that is unlikely to result in it landing jack first if it falls to the floor.I was about to purchase yet another set of Alpha’s when I received a discount offer on the Resonates and despite them costing more than the Alphas I decided it was worth a go to see if the sound quality was markedly better. So what is it I like so much about the Resonates? To start with I have a broad musical taste, listening to Rock, Indie, World, Folk, Bluegrass, traditional and modern Jazz, Blues, Soul, Classical and what used to be called progressive in the 70’s. When I am listening I like to focus on the music so most of my listening is when relaxing and sitting or lying down. I prefer a fairly natural sound and do not like the Music too loud or pumped up bass. After some experimentation I now use the Resonates with the green “energy” tuning filters and the silicone ear tips. I found that the sound varies a lot based on the choice of filters and the fit of the ear tips and it is worthwhile trying out different combinations until you find the fit and sound that suits you best.I was very happy with my old Alphas and while I was expecting a noticeable difference between them and the Resonates the sound reproduction from the Resonates is more detailed than I expected and the sound stage is excellent. The bass is well balanced with the other frequencies and the overall sound is outstanding, for my musical tastes. It took a while to get used to the over the ear fit but I now find it very natural and comfortable.I have used the earphones when commuting and they are very good at excluding external noise without having to turn the volume up too much. I do not like using earphones when walking and cannot comment on their use when walking or running.I have one minor gripe and that is that the thinner cable on the Resonates gets tangled more easily that the thicker cable on the Alphas. However, I suspect that a thicker cable on the Resonates would be less comfortable over the ears.I am now hooked, if I lose these earphones the replacement will be another set of Resonates. There are some very detailed reviews of the Resonates that have been posted and I hope that this brief account of my experience with them is a helpful addition.

Great sound, terrible durability
Unfortunately build quality on these is shocking. The plastic mic falls apart easily, the back of the earphones come off easily and the audio is cutting out on the aux jack and one of the earphones. Sound quality is incredible but I don't fancy spending 20 a month on new cables.

If it looks to good to be true..
Then it almost certainly is.. Cables are shoddy (5 cables in less than 1 year, with good care) and build quality really doesn't hold up. Part of the casing for the left ear is suddenly missing. Avoid completely.
