Best book to know the truth of Academics obstacles
"TROTTING THE TERRA FERMA" is a book written by Jaya Roy Chowdhury ..The book gives an insight into the present Academic Scenario .The book is not a fiction ,nor a humour ,but a Treatise of her Experiences during her Sojourn in various Institutes post lockdown .The author has presented the book in her easy, interesting ,flowing style ,for both the teacher and the taught and of both Private and Government Academic Institutes. The Shortcomings have been well illustrated and puts the question for all to ponder..where is education today ?Author has not only sent this question to one and all but also advised some remedial actions which if taken into consideration and implemented successfully ,can help the students who are harassed at the incompetency of faculty not having deep and necessary knowledge of the subject they have been assigned to teach .The Eligibility Criteria of the faculty has to be an asset for the School/college /Institute and not a hindrance affecting the students .I wish Author all the very best.

It is really helpful for youngsters to know the corrupt education system
Trotting the Terra Firma, written by Jaya Roy Chowdhury Ma'am, was one of the best books I have ever read about the educational affairs all round the world. I have always been interested in the bookish world, I have read many story books and some programming books, by which many were given to me by Jaya Ma'am. Had a nice time reading this book. In the end, I would say that everybody should read this book and should come to know about many of the evils in the education system. Not only this, this book has been portrayed by Jaya Ma'am in such a way that it's make it more interesting to read!A Biswas

5/5, recommended
I have NEVER read such a brutally honest work of literature by an Indian author, and i have read over 50 non fictious books. This is my personal favourite of all the books I’ve read that are written by Jaya ma’am. I love how this is so breathtakingly real and how not even one part of the education system in India is glamourised. I am in awe of the vocabulary used in the book and how the words are not fancy but still have a long lasting effect on the reader. There is so much about the book that I loved. I understood the clerk reference on page 8, and I completely agree to how the toxic school cycle of the employees being overworked and the management barely caring for it affects an individual so much so that they decide to leave for good. The appreciation for the Sanatani culture made me feel so good and I understood in the first few pages of the book that this is not a biased work. Most intellectuals discard the Gurukul system of education and Sanatani literature but i like how she wrote about embracing our roots rather than disregarding them. I agree to the point where she mentioned that we need a modern approach to teaching without forgetting out roots, that is making a fusion out of modern learning and the gurukul system. I also agree to the point where she mentioned how teachers are overworked. I wondered if there would be a complete whitewash wrt teachers like but then the book highlighted how there are SO MANY incompetent teachers too, who are teaching English without knowing basic grammar and how that ultimately affects the students because they’re subjected to those common grammatical errors right from the beginning of their educational journey. The best part of the entire book is how intricately the issues in our education system are pointed out but then there are solutions too, that could help. I personally relate to everything from chapters 3-6 , especially how our education system is OUTDDATED, and that the education system in India is basically cramming and writing in exams, how not only teachers, but also students mug up almost everything. The boldest part about the book was how unafraid the writer was of writing how the management is run by people who only have money as a concern, which leads to PT teachers becoming the school counsellors and Physics teachers teaching geography, and how systematically flawed this is because this affects both, the quality of teaching: because the teacher themselves are not masters of the subjects they did not choose to teach in the first place , and the interest of students: because being taught by teachers who aren’t masters of their subject would eventually make them lose interest. I was shocked knowing how teachers, who literally shape the future of the nation have such low salaries and they have to ask for it over and over again sometimes because of the attitude of the management.I love this book, I absolutely love it. I love how brutally honest it is, i love how it does not even want to be liked or to flatter someone, and i love how it makes sure to trigger everyone reading it. I am in awe of the writing style. Nobody could do it like Jaya ma’am does. Nobody at all. I enjoyed every bit of it.5/5, definitely recommended!
