The 50-blade design does what a mallet can't — it tenderizes without flattening or mangling the shape of the meat, so you get the texture improvement without losing the presentation. The clear base is a genuinely smart design choice. You can see exactly where the blades have already been, so you can work across a piece of chicken or steak evenly without guessing. Small detail, big difference in practice. Cleanup is easier than I expected for something with this many blades. The top pulls apart for a proper rinse, and the whole thing goes on the top rack of the dishwasher. The safety lock when it's not in use is also a nice touch — blades stay covered in the drawer, no surprises. Marinades penetrate noticeably better after using this, which means less time marinating and more flavor getting into the meat. If you cook a lot of chicken breasts or tougher cuts, this thing earns its counter space quickly. Classic OXO — well thought out, no complaints.

I use it on Flat meats and then Marinate it, Be advised OXO made this to last...it's really sharp. but cleaning is a tactical maneuver. I use a cheap "fines" brush (Fines are those pieces of metal that are so fine they get stuck in your work) to reach into and between the blades. Forget using a tenderizing mallet or round - those you use to thin and flatten for pan frying. But Combined with a $4lb Round steak you can a have a great chicken fried steak (Tenderize, Flatten, Bread and Fry)
