Q: Why don't you call your sweetener erythritol sweetener with monk fruit and be a little bit more honest here?

It says it’s a blend on package. Erythritol has to be added in order to get a 1:1 ratio with sugar. Monk fruit extract is far too sweet (200 or so times sweeter) and as such you couldn’t merely substitute monk fruit 1:1 in recipes. Erythritol is less sweet than sugar (approx 70% less) and so mixing the two sweeteners allows you to just do a direct substitute with sugar in your recipes. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol and passes directly through the body without alteration. This is a great substitute for sugar for those on low or no sugar diets.

I haven’t decided yet what to do about the recent findings on erythritol and it’s potential negative health effects…Have a fresh 5 pound bag of monk fruit sweetener and new bag of sucralose as well. I may end up using a mixture of both of them together…I hope researchers will soon provide some answers to this vexing question.
