I have used for over 15 years!!!! Its is the best that I found. Great for accurate temps on the grill, in the oven, on the hob. Easy to read Review: Accurate and well made - This is just an excellent thermometer, it comes with a calibration certificate and is filled out by hand after ETI have tested it. Far too msny of the cheap ones available online have a plus or minus tolerance of up to two degrees, which for my purposes just isn't accurate enough. According to the calibration certificate with my thermopen, it should be accurate to within 0.4 degrees, which is great. I'm using it to monitor temperatures in my Koi Pond as I also heat it and need an accurate check so as not to waste energy and of course provide the optimum environment for the fish. My temperature controller on the heating system is currently set to 22 degrees and the thermopen is showing the pond water to be at 22.6 degrees, which would be about right. The unit itself feels sturdy and the metal rod measures the temperature from the tip only - 0.5mm, so all I have to do is dip it in just a bit and it gives me a reading within two seconds. Compared to others that I've bought, it's super fast. I love the fold out and it comes on immediately and close to power down, just makes it easier to use. There is also a very good quality booklet with which shows you how to Re- calibrate it yourself (highly unlikely to need to do it though). It’s a fantastic product, very accurate, responsive, and very easy to use and clean. I know you can get cheaper ones but this is another level and worth every penny! **Q: Can this thermometer be adjusted to read in Fahrenheit? The thermopen uk website indicates that it can, but some of the reviews say it cannot.** A: Yes it can. Remove the battery cover and flick the small switch numbered 1 away from the battery to switch the Thermapen into Fahrenheit **Q: how long is the probe?** A: 11 cm. Bought mainly for my wife who had started making more jam, but I nick it to check meat this also. We've had an analogue meat one for a while, but it didn't get much use. Ease of use is the key here and other reviewers are spot on. This thermometer is very simple and fast too use which matters when you have a hot oven open or a lot of things on the go. It's quick to read with no buttons to press. It has a simple, reassuringly sturdy build. Would have been nice to have a simple slip pouch too protect it from getting scratched up in a kitchen drawer. It works very well for jam even though it's not specific to that. I suppose a jam thermometer would allow you to just leave it in the pan and watch it whereas with this you just stick it in a few times to check.
