Perfect for kids and adults
If you’re stepping into the world of yo-yos — whether you’re 8 or 38 — the Yomega Raider is a seriously fun starter that punches above its price point. It’s the kind of yo-yo that makes you want to toss it in your pocket and show off at random moments (sorry, coworkers). Design & Build: Right out of the box the Raider looks slick — classic shape with fun colors. It’s plastic, but feels solid and well-balanced in hand. The wide gap makes it beginner-friendly, and the axle system is smooth enough that you don’t feel like you’re wrestling the yo-yo just to make it return. Performance: This yo-yo is spintastic for learning the basics. It’s responsive enough that beginners can get it to return without struggle, but it also has enough spin time to learn simple tricks like “Walk the Dog,” “Around the World,” and “Rock the Baby.” Once you start pushing into more advanced string tricks, it’s not quite competition-level — but that’s okay, because at this price it’s doing exactly what it should. Playability: The Raider sits comfortably between training wheels and performance. If you’ve never yo-yoed before, it’ll help you pick things up fast. If you already know a few tricks, it still feels lively and capable enough to keep you entertained. Just don’t expect elite unresponsive play without a bearing swap. Pros: • Great for beginners and intermediate players • Smooth, stable spin for the price • Comfortable grip and good shape • Fun colors, solid feels Cons: • Not a performance competition yo-yo • Plastic body can’t rival metal in spin time • Might feel too easy for seasoned players Bottom Line: The Yomega Raider is a fantastic first yo-yo or casual throw-around pick. It’s reliable, forgiving, and plenty fun without being expensive. Whether you want to relive childhood or pick up a new hobby, this yo-yo will get you smiling and spinning in no time.

Kids love to play with yo-yos
I bought these for my grandchildren. They love to yo-yo and I really do love these.

Just like I remember
I was worried after reading some negative reviews, I bought this for my son and we have played with it, seems to be just as good as the old ones, any comments on the starburst wearing has me thinking they are using nylon string, if you get this be sure to get some good cotton string.

Broken pretty much from the get go
EDIT: Yomega finally got back to me and replaced my yoyo at no charge to me. New one works great. Review increased from 2 stars to 4. I'm sure this is a fine yoyo in theory and a good step-up from the Fireball but mine was manufactured incorrectly and the threads were cut wrong so they don't actually have any purchase on the nut they thread into. In addition the yoyo was put together off-center and is not straight when it is assembled. These Yomegas use to be near indestructible but now both my Fireball and my Raider are broken and all emails to Yomega have not been returned. My Fireball worked find and when I realized my Raider was broken straight out of the box and Yomega wasn't getting back to me I swapped the internals from the Raider into the body of the Fireball (Identical bodies) and that worked great for about a week before the nut that the spindle threads into tore lose from its housing and stripped. Now I can't get the yoyo apart or tighten it because the nut just spins and spins, so it's essentially worthless. Two Yomega purchases within days of each other and both are garbage in less than a week. I'm moving on from my nostalgia of owning Yomega's in the past and am going to be purchasing some purpose-built performance yoyos by other manufacturers. Do not waste your money unless you literally have no idea what you're doing and just want something to learn the very basics on, but even then don't be surprised when they're broken in a week.

Raider
It’s a ball bearing responsive Yoyo with a sunburst response return, what more is needed. If you’re going to mod it for more precise looping be very careful as you shave your bearing seat’s and consider shortening the axle, don’t crack a housing.

Great Company
The Raider is great for what you pay, not professional grade or anything but still a great deal for low cost. In general I have nothing but nice things to say about Yomega. They really seem to give a crap about their customers, and take the time to make sure everyone has a good experience.

Modding is difficult with these newer Raiders.
Bought these to mod for looping. Love the purple and Amazon is the only place that offers them in this colorway. They're Raiders, classic. I've modded Raiders before with no problems, and I'm not sure if the issues I've found apply with these newer ones. (I got the purple with black caps btw.) Issues: I don't know what they did with the spacers, but they do not release from their seat via tapping. The non-axle halves I had to remove with pliers and had minimal damage even when I was being very careful not to damage the plastic that interfaces with the spacer. The challenge I am now facing is the spacer on the axle half of the yoyo. I tapped the halves on the table and the spacers don't seem to budge. They really made the spacers snug that it's impossible to remove without damaging the axle. I've given up at this point and am out 30 dollars for the pair. That's the cost of education I suppose. These are still nice yoyos if you're buying it as a gift for a child that won't be doing too much with it or for yourself if you're a nostalgic 90's kid. Update: I was able to fiddle around with them more and in order to remove the bearing on the axle half of the yoyo, I overcranked it without a spacer in the non-axle half. After overcranking, when I unscrewed it, the axle was then on the half without a bearing and I was able to pop out the remaining spacer with pliers. It worked for both Raiders on the first try each. With that said, I'm bumping my original 1 star rating to a 3 star.

This yo-yo is the bees knees
The Yomega Raider is the best yo-yo around. Great for beginners because of its ease in making it sleep and bringing it back up. Great for pros because of its lag time so you can Do tricks. This yo-yo is superior to any other yo-yo EVER. The sheer nostalgia mixed with the intense newfound passion to dominate the yo-yo world is reason enough to buy a Yomega, but the quick shipping, extra strings, and nice little packaging makes it a no brainer.

Christmas pressie
Purchased for my son for Christmas, arrived promptly. A big hit, for the price it works really well, with my son very soon showing me all the tricks and stunts that can be done with a yo-yo. Comes with additional cord for if the original gets worn or knotty.

Questionable price-quality ratio and wrong color
Not only I’m paying 15€ for a piece of plastic, it’s purple even though it had to be black
