Soooooo expensive, but perfect in every way. - Recommended.
As a normal, sensible human being my first thought when I saw this a was H O W M U C H???However having got over my shock, I was brave and placed an order. This is a simple piece of plastic.but what a well thought out, well designed and well engineered piece of plastic. It is a perfect fit.It has a slightly ribbed matt interior to prevent light bouncingit moves/slides with ease, but not too much ease.In other words it is perfect. But soooo expensive.

Simple, does the job and the sliding action is great.
Does an excellent job and smoothly slides up and down the lens. If you don't want it when you are trying to get as much light on the subject as possible and may need manual focus it is trivial to remove. A lot of lenses I have owned in the past had sliding retractable lens hoods and it certainly made life easier. I have had Olympus lens hoods for decades and none, including the modern plasticy kind have ever broken in normal use.

Pricey but neat
It’s a shame it’s not included with the 60mm.I just like the simplicity of it, just twist it on and you can push it down or pull it up when needed. It is a bit pricey for a hood, but it works so well, wishOM systems did this with other hoods, as you don’t need to take off, once fitted.Push it down when in your bag, but do use with lens cap in this position, otherwise you could damaged your lens.No need to take off if shooting without needing it extended, just set your lens up, push back and go.I would have given 5 stars, but for the price.Build quality and fit are good.Would recommend to anyone with the 60mm macro lens.

Ease of use
This lens hood is excellent. It slides back onto the lens when not needed, and the lens fits easily into my camera bag. It saves taking the lens hood off each time and reversing it as on other lens hoods. So easy to use. It was expensive, but it seems you get what you pay for, and in this case it was an excellent purchase. I would recommend it.

The hood
Olympus (or is it OM System?) rarely supply a hood with their lenses. Back in the days of the E series, it was common to do so, but not now. So what do you do? Spend £50 on an Olympus version, or plump for a much cheaper third party copy? Whilst saving some cash may seem enticing, it can turn out to be a false economy. The LH-49 for the 60mm lens is a clever piece of kit. Usually, a lens hood screws onto the business end, and in some cases can be unscrewed and reversed for storage, but not this baby. Line up the markings and turn until you hear a satisfying click and you're ready to go. But what do you do when you've ended your shoot? Simply push down on the end and the lens slides down the barrel and when you get another audible click, it's stored in place. Then push it back up again. Adding next to nothing to the overall weight, the end sits flush with the glass and both filters and a lens cap don't get in the way.Other than the price, the only issue with this is that when it's in the stored position, you lose access to the focus ring, but fortunately, not the focus limiter. If you're using AF that won't matter, but it is a bit of a nuisance otherwise, though it's more of a niggly one than anything else. And there you have it.But a cheap copy will do the same thing, I hear you say. To some extent yes. But in my own experience they tend not to fit properly, being either too loose or far too tight, and they break easily. If you've spent (or are going to spend) £400 on this lens, is it really worth scrimping on the accessories? You know the Olympus one will work.

works well
Expensive for what it is, but reviews of people who have bought the cheaper replacements were less than positive, but considering the camera that it goes with is not exactly cheap, figured worth a buy.Cheaper than the local shop and some of the others did not have it in stock

Does the job
The 60MM macro lens from Olympus is a fantastic piece of kit which is made a little bit better with the hood especially on longer exposures, Im a long way from being a professional and consider myself a mid level hobby photographer, if I notice a difference at my level it must be good.
User
Very smooth action
Very pleased with this lens hood for my 60mm macro Fits easily and retracts smoothly..One star deducted because a) it should come as standard acceessory with the lens and b) the price is extortionate.

Good protection and light shielding
It’s the perfect hood for the Macro lens. Pricey indeed but OM System gear is all of good quality.

Super Gegenlichtblende
