Bought for a friend and highly recommended.

Well acted and produced BBC mini series.Guy Fawkes the only man to enter Parliament with honest intentions.

Superb production from the BBC. It has a great story concerning Guy Fawkes and the resentment to the Catholic fraternity. A couple of gory scenes but all part of the story. Runs for about 3Hours ( 3 Episodes ), well worth a watch.

I enjoyed this film which arrived on time at a very good price.

Interesting factual story and good production values, but nothing remarkable.

BBC should stick to this sort of entertainment and drop the political propaganda

…..the factual plot depicted. Rated “18” because of the graphic tortures and death penalties of the day shown, but it is possible to look away, which I did, I could actually begin to feel the pain inflicted.Whilst watching this BBC TV mini series, I studied the facts behind the making of.Very interesting, including the lead actor playing Robert Catesby, his own ancestry.The whole production is brilliant. I learned a lot about those times, and it is all relevant in the present day, in 2023.

Well-made, and accurate, account of The Gunpowder Plot starring a direct descendant of the Chief conspirator.

Graditissima sorpresa. A parte il pacco arrivato integro e con puntualità, è un film in 3 puntate ben recitato e piuttosto conforme ai fatti storici.Sottotitoli in inglese.Comodissimi

Otra increíble muestra de lo bien que los británicos se acercan a su historia. Solo elogios para este miniserie de la BBC, protagonizada, creada y producida por Kit Harington ( gran interpretación), escrita por Ronan Bennett y Daniel West. Ninguna concesión, hiperrealista, con grandes diálogos, ambientación, fotografía, vestuario... Con un cast en estado de gracia desde el ya mencionado Kit Harington clavando a un hombre viudo del siglo XVII padre de un niño pequeño, lleno de conflictos ( el retrato que hace de su personaje, va desde la ira más sorda, a la desesperación, el infortunio, el fanatismo e incluso la locura, sin caer en la sobreactuación, algo que siempre aprecié en los actores y actrices) Mark Gatiss , el estupendo Peter Mullan, Tom Cullen, Edward Holcroft y nuestro maravilloso Pedro Casablanc demostrando una vez más, que es puro talento, haga lo que haga. Mención especial a Liv Tyler, con una actuación digna de todo elogio, emocionante y emocional...Y qué decir de la GENIAL Sian Webber, su escena en el cadalso es tan brutal y bien interpretada que te deja sin aliento, con el corazón en la boca, Bravo por ella!. La música fantástica y esas calles de Londres embarradas acompañando a estos personajes en busca de su destino. 100% recomendable. Si disfrutas de las series de calidad y quieres asomarte y comprender algo más de nuestra historia y como acontecimientos como estos aún influyen en nuestros días, es tu serie.

So beginnt ein bekannter englischer Reim, der alljährlich am 5. November, dem “Guy Fawkes Day“ oder “Bonfire Day“ aufgesagt wird. An diesem Tag im Jahre 1605 versuchten katholische Verschwörer den König samt Parlament in die Luft zu jagen – vergebens.Meist gilt der genannte Guy Fawkes als Rädelsführer der Rebellen. In diesem BBC-TV-Dreiteiler liegt der Fokus aber auf Robert Catesby (Kit Harington). Catesby war ein katholischer Landadeliger und Galionsfigur der Verschwörung gegen den anglikanischen König James I. Er wollte die Unterdrückung seiner Glaubensbrüder -und Schwestern beenden und mit spanischer Hilfe den Katholizismus zurück auf Englands Thron bringen. Catesby war charismatisch und ein religiöser Eiferer.In “Gunpowder“ stellt ihn Kit Harington in Jon-Snow-Manier als den Helden, den last man standing, dar. Wenngleich auch sein Catesby nicht ohne Makel ist. Er verliert und verirrt sich im katholischen Credo und weigert sich zu sehen, dass er nur eine religiöse Tyrannei durch die andere zu ersetzen versucht.Das Interessante an dieser Rollenbesetzung: Kit Harington ist ein Nachfahre des historischen Robert Catesby.Ebenfalls auf katholischer Seite überzeugt Liv Tyler als Anne Vaux, Catesbys Cousine, die Priester Unterschlupf bietet.Der große, mit allen Wassern der Intrige gewaschene Widersacher der Gunpowder-Verschwörer hieß Sir Robert Cecil, als Secretary of State, wichtigster Berater des Königs. In seine Rolle ist Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes in “Sherlock“) geschlüpft.Spannende, atmosphärisch düstere, schauspielerisch tolle Aufarbeitung dieses geschichtsträchtigen Stoffes.
