can i pick up radio station lbc london

Yes ! the Tecsun PL-360 has a fairly decent FM commercial band receiver and, providing that you're in the reception area (central London) you can tune into 97.3MHz FM. This radio won't receive DAB broadcasts so if you're outside the capital, you're not going to hear this station. Mind you, if LBC have a secret SW transmitter on their roof, then you should be able to pick-up all the music & gossip & travel updates wherever you are in the world ! Nevertheless, this is an excellent 'take-on-holiday' radio !

What is the actual battery life of the device? How long does it last on a set of 3 AAs?

Approx 18 hours continuous play

Can radio be charged out of box. Or should I buy plug

No problem at all. You put Ni-Cd batteries into the radio and recharge simply using a USB - MiniUSB cable with a 5volt power supply, like smartphones or other devices.

Hi does the unit have RDS functionality?

NO ! absolutely not ! The Techsun PL-360 doesn't have RDS (so, with the volume at zero, just by looking at the LCD display, you won't be able to tell whether it's Beethoven's 4th on Classic FM or Wham!'s Last Christmas on Absolute 80's. There isn't even an alpha-numeric feature (so you won't be able to ascribe a radio station's name to it's frequency.) It's still a good radio though !
