Getting this to work in Windows 10
It is possible to get this game to work in Windows 10. First I set the Compatibility Mode for the game. To do this, right-click on the Typing Tournament icon and choose 'Open File Location'. Then right-click on that Typing Tournament icon, click on Compatibility and tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 98 / Windows Me'. Underneath I ticked 'Reduced color mode 16-bit color'. Then click OK to save these settings. Now, everytime I want to play the game, as I have two monitors, I have to disable one of my two monitors by right-clicking the desktop and choosing Display Settings, then under Multiple Displays I choose 'Show Only on 1' (or 2) instead of 'Extend these displays'. Once the Windows desktop is only displaying on a single monitor I can launch the game and it works fine.My 5 year old and 8 year old boys both tried playing this game but neither of them were particularly inspired by it. It is as in the product description but I don't think they liked the pressure of being chased and potentially losing the game if they didn't type fast enough. It also looks a little bit dated, and as you can see from my notes above it's a bit of a fiddle to get it going on Windows 10. The author could well do with polishing the graphics a bit for newer hardware, making it work in windowed mode (or at least correctly when the desktop is extended across two monitors) and fix the Windows 10 compatibility issues.

Sustains interest
Bought this for my son (9 yrs) who has become fed up and stuck part way though Disney's Adventures in typing with Timon and Pumbaa. Its a quest broken down into sections which are linked with characters in a medieval castle. The quest added variety and he got to the end of the quest which is c18 wpm. Beyond that - 20, 22, and more wpm its repetitious as the quest is over.

Mum likes it, son hates it!
Bought this for my 9 year old son, who has problems writing and needs to learn to type quickly to keep up at school. After a couple of goes he refused to use it as he didn't like being chased by a dragon if he couldn't type fast enough! However, I thought the whole set up was really good, with stages and quests, games and clear graphics to help with finger placement. My son now prefers BBC Dancemat which is excellent and free.
