VAUDE Badawi Long 6P Tent - Sand

Used twice so far, quite easy to put up (the top bit of the main tent is slightly tricky but not a major problem). Very spacious inside - love the fact that you can stand up (just about) in the sleeping pods as well as the main tent area. Not tried in bad weather yet, but the design looks so much better than a lot of the other big family tents you see that I suspect this won't be a problem. Good design inside - thought the drawstring on the front zip was a bit of a gimmick, but is actually v useful!, lots of storage pockets and materials seem v good quality. Not the cheapest tent by any means, but hopefully will last us for years and years!

We have had this tent for 3 years now - it is spacious and has great sleeping space - our young children can sleep in one compartment with us if necessary and the other is then used for changing and keeping things bug free. It is big enough for 6 easily. It is very very easy to put up once you have the hang of it and it is very stable. The ventilation system is fantastic in hot weather, but the "windows" must be closed when it rains or when you expect rain. It copes well with high winds. It also looks slightly nomadic which helps finding it on a busy campsite. It is very light compared with other similar-sized tents and packs down well. A great tent.

My Badawi Long was delivered last week and, unable to wait we couldn't help ourselves but give it a go this week. As a long-time Vaude tent owner I had high expectations of this tent, looking for it to be very easy to erect, pack (relatively) small, provide plenty of useable space and give good, durable shelter from the elements. So myself, my wife, 3 year old daughter and dog packed ourselves into our Citroen C1 (a packed Badawi Long only takes up half the tiny boot space!) with all our kit and headed to our favourite camp site, Three Cliffs, Gower in the last week of September. We arrived just before dark so needed to get this tent up fast! The instructions, sewn into the tent bag are more basic clues than detailed instructions but being familiar with Vaude was a definite help. Basically, you spread the tent out on the ground, then spread out a triangular band equipped with fittings for the poles, underneath it. This is fairly easy as the triangular shape of the band corresponds with the central triangle of the tent's fly sheet. You then thread the colour coded poles into the fly sheet sleeves and clip them to the triangular band (you really need 2 people to do this). Then thread the two hoops into the sleeping quarters, clip them in place and the tent's up. Just peg it down, lay the bround sheet in the vestibule and you're done. It took us 30 minutes first time and I'd expect to nearly half that with a little practice ... not bad for a big tent. The 2 sleeping quarters are big and the vestibule is a great size too but cooking-wise I think it lends itself better to a low-down back-packer stove than full kitchen rig and sink. There is standing headroom in the vestibule and a lamp or torch will hang nicely in the centre. Being Vaude you get pockets galore inside the tent so lots of room to store your bits and pieces. In it's favour you get: small pack size, easy erection, excellent looks, lots of room, pre-bent lightweight aluminium poles, and Vaude German quality. The only negative in my experience is that the vestibule could get draughty in windy conditions. The bedrooms with their built in 'bathtub' groundsheets remain snug and secure and for winter camping I would recommend the optional 'footprint' which I understand clips to the flysheet and eliminates the draughts. The pegs are very pointy but are lightweight and work exceptionally well. Price-wise, I think that the RRP is a bit steep but at around half the RRP through Amazon the Badawi Long represents excellent value for money. In summary, for the serious car-camper who wants something better than the numerous cheap tents on offer from the local Outdoor Supermarket, it doesn't get a lot better than this.

Das Zelt wurde gut verpackt geliefert. Die Zelttasche bzw. eher der Zeltsack bietet genügend Platz, sodass man bei Wiederverpacken keine Platzprobleme hat und irgentetwas quetschen muss. Über das Gewicht kann ich nicht klagen, ist eben ein großes Zelt. Wir waren bereits zweimal mit dem Zelt unterwegs, 4 Erwachsene und 1 Kind. Alle haben problemlos Platz gefunden, auch mit Gepäck. Ich bin 1,85m groß und konnte in der Zeltmitte problemlos stehen. Die Verarbeitung des Materials und der Nähte ist hervorragend. Wasserdicht ist das Zelt auf jeden Fall, denn in Holland wurden wir regelrecht unterspült, ohne dass auch nur ein Tropfen ins Zeltinnere gelangen konnte. Auch der mittlere eingehängte Zeltboden war trocken. Nach zweimaligem Auf- und Abbauen ist man auch sehr schnell. Habe beim zweiten Aufbau alleine 20 Minuten gebraucht. Hier eignet sich allerdings ein Aufbaututorial auf youtube besser, als die Aufbauanleitung von VAUDE.

Leider hat es erst jetzt geklappt das Zelt auszuprobieren, von außen gab es eine „komische“ Stelle an der Hülle, was schon bei Lieferung für Irritationen geführt hatte, aber die verschmutzten Heringe sind wohl auf einem Gebrauch des Zeltes zurückzuführen, somit war es nicht neu und das ärgert ungemein, da ich nicht früher dazu kam es zu nutzen.

Größe, Qualität, etc super, auch der Aufbau klappt, wenn man es (trotz sehr knapper Anleitung) erst mal gecheckt hat. Allerdings gebe ich nur 4 Sterne, da das Regenwasser doch vorne und an den Seiten eindringen kann, da finde ich den Zeltstoff doch zu knapp bemessen= zu weit vom Boden entfernt.

Nettes Gut-Wetter-Zelt mit vielen durchdachten Details. Leider nicht sehr haltbar. Beim dritten Aufbau ist ohne besonders große Spannung der Stoff am Eingang eingerissen.

mit den Sternen ist das ganz schwierig. Vorweg: der Stoff, die Stangen usw. sind relativ hohe Qualität. Da konnte ich nichts meckern. Die halten auch sehr viel aus, dazu später. Der Aufbau war für eine Person relativ einfach zu bewerkstelligen, wenn man sich auf YouTube das Vaude Video angeschaut hat, dass man nämlich das obere Dach schon aufbauen muss, wenn man das Hauptzelt noch platt auf dem Boden liegen hat (sonst kommt man da nicht mehr hin). Die Schlafkabinen erschienen mir relativ kurz. ich würde da pro Kabine mit 2 Personen rechnen, so dass man Komfort hat. 2 wäre schon arg eng. Wenn man den zusätzlichen Boden mit erhöhtem Rand hat, dann geht da noch etwas Platz für die Kabinen verloren, weil der zwischen die Kabinenbefestigungen am Aussenzelt eingeklippst wird. Warum ich es gekauft habe? Sehr leicht und trotzem noch einiges an Platz. Man kann es relativ problemlos noch rumtragen. Warum jetzt aber nur 2 Sterne? Ich vertraute ja der Vaude Qualität und baute das Zelt genauso wie es geliefert wird auf. Mir fiel zwar auf, dass das Zelt schon relativ wenige Befestitungspunkte für Heringe hat. Aber gut. Ich habe es jetzt weder an der Nordsee aufgebaut noch irgendwo in den Hochalpen. Flaches Voralpenland. Zunächst freute ich mich über die superleichten Heringe die (im Gegensatz zu Heringen von Billigzelten) doch relativ einfach in unseren Steinigen Boden rein gingen. Allerdings: diese Heringe gingen auch genaus einfach wieder raus... Es kam dann am Abend ein Gewitter. Für unsere Verhältnisse mittlerer Wind würd ich sagen. Auch nur relativ kurz. Keinesfalls ein Sturm oder sowas. Nachdem ich auch ein Baumwoll Holandzelt habe, das hier schon ohne zu mucken wirklich starken Stürmen getrotzt hat, dachte ich mir bei dem bissl Wind nix. Bis ich dann morgen feststellen musste, dass das Zelt nicht mehr da war. Es war weg. ca. 50m weiter hing es im Maisfeld. Es hatte sich mit einer Schlaufe für die Heringe (mein Glück) in einem Zaunpfahl aus Eisen eingehängt. Ohne den wär das Zelt wohl ganz weggeflogen. Also sowas geht irgendwie gar nicht. Das gute: das Zelt hat das bis auf ein kleines Loch im Mesh unverletzt überstanden. Kein Stangenbruch kein Riss. Daher muss der Rest der Qualität schon sehr gut sein. Aber wie kann man nur solche Heringe von Werk mitliefern? Wo soll DAS bitte denn halten? oder müssen da 6 schwere Personen drinnen das Zelt am hochfliegen hindern? Bei Sandboden ohne Spezialheringe hätt ich mir das ja noch eingehen lassen. Aber wir haben hier eher steinigen harten Boden. Die tolle Gewichtsbilanz schaut natürlich dann anders aus, wenn man Prügelheringe nehmen muss, was man bei so einem großen Zelt mit so viel Windangriffsfläche einfach wohl machen muss. Noch eins: ich würde nach dieser Erfahrung mit diesem Zelt auch mit großen Heringen NICHT irgendwo auf einer der Nordseeinseln oder Ostseeinseln zelten, wo sehr viel Wind geht, es sind für diese Zeltgröße einfach sehr wenige Schlaufen für die Heringe an dem Zelt - im Vergleich zu meinem Hollandzelt. Ich teste jetzt mal die Windstabilität mit den vom Hollandzelt ausgeborgten Heringen.
