Tune a Day Classical Guitar Book 1 by C. Paul Herfurth is a structured beginner method designed to introduce new players to classical guitar through a clear and musical approach. Created for those starting from the basics, it supports early learners, students, and self-taught players in building essential technique and musicianship from the very first steps, making it a dependable entry point into instrumental study. This classical guitar tuition book focuses on developing a solid technical foundation alongside musical understanding. Using standard notation, it helps players learn to read music while improving coordination, tone control, and fundamental playing skills in a steady and approachable progression. The clear presentation ensures that learners can follow each concept with confidence, even without prior musical experience. The method builds skills gradually through progressive exercises and carefully sequenced material, reinforcing each concept through repetition and practical application. This ensures that learners not only understand technique but can apply it musically, supporting confident and expressive playing as they progress. The balance between technical discipline and musical enjoyment helps maintain motivation during the early stages of learning. As part of the widely recognised A Tune a Day series, the book follows a proven structure that encourages consistent practice and steady improvement. Its clear layout and logical pacing make it suitable for both independent learning and guided study with a teacher, allowing flexibility across different learning environments including home practice, lessons, and classroom use. This book is well suited for learning and skill development, offering a balanced approach that supports both technical growth and musical enjoyment, while helping players establish strong habits that will support long-term progress on the instrument. Review: excellent beginners book - I have bought several beginner classical guitar books including 'Absolute Beginner' and 'The Art of Spanish Guitar'. While they all have their merits, this is the one I've found the most enjoyable so far. You don't learn too many songs straight away (as you do in some others), but it has helped to build my sheet reading skills enormously and given me a good technical foundtion of control over the guitar, which means I've become more confident in learning new pieces alone. It's fun too, although the early pieces are really simple. Review: A tune a day - Great book for learning the basics of the guitar

Dated, but still a great tutor
This was the first book I learned from with my tutor many years ago. Now that I'm a classical guitar tutor I use lots of different teaching materials, but for some of my older students I find that this book is still great. Nice and progressive, with some lovely pieces towards the back. Yes, it's dated, and there is a newer version, but don't be put off by that. If I have one criticism, it's that the font is a little on the small side.

Reliably good series of teaching books, self teaching too.
Always loved the 'Tune a Day' books. Great for all wind instruments which is my area on knowledge in these. Certainly recommend for all beginners at whatever age.

Real guitar book for beginners
The book is written to teach you how to play the guitar but not to sell the book. This is a real educational book to start the guitar. You will be amazed with the single minded caring in every section and in every page. I am very happy with the book and totally satisfied.
