Way better than the Squier in the Beginner Pack
I have not tried Fender version but I tried the Squier Strat included in the Beginner Pack and this model (Classic Vibe 50's). Based on my experience with both models, I can say that CV 50's is definitely worth the extra spending. First of all, other colours of this model is for about $600 while this colour, for some reason that I cannot understand, is constantly on sale for about $400 which is a steal! Also, the build and sound quality is way superior in comparison with the Strat in the Beginner Pack. One downside that comes to my mind is that the neck gets sticky when you play for about an hour and it becomes more difficult to play fast. Other than that I highly recommend getting this one over the cheaper versions especially when this is on sale (~$400).

Great price for an excellent instrument
I'm not really a guitarist but I was a musician. Bought for my grandson who plays really well and is having lessons, this instrument is awesome and he can make it sing. He finds it comfortable to play and all the adjustments are quick and responsive. I'm sure that the more technical amongst you will have some reservations with set-up, etc., but this model was good to go straight out of the box. It's a great looking instrument and a very competitive price. Highly recommended for any playing level.
