## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hello please can somebody tell me the dimensions. Thank you**
A: The Soroban is 206.8mm in length. 62mm wide. and 15mm thick.......With 17 Rods of four beads below the beam and a single bead above the beam. The beam is marked with dots at every three rodsIf you are new to the soroban a useful book to have is Paul Green's How to use a Japanese Abacus, Which shows the bead position for most calculations.

**Q: Does the this abacus have a zero reset**
A: No, thank you. It has been manually zero reset lol

**Q: Are there marks to indicate decimal points on the frame?**
A: Every third rod is marked with a black dot. When one of these is chosen as the 'unit rod' the position of the decimal point follows.

**Q: Do the beads stay in place? or do they shake around at minimum impact?**
A: The beads are free to move as required. if used on a secure surface there should be no minimum impact, and the beads are heavy enough to stay in place as they are movedin normal use.The beads are saucer shaped which helps to keep each bead apart, which with practice helps to avoid minimum impact on other beads.(note the word Practice).

Exactly what it says on the tin, working abacus. Not huge production quality but it does the job.

Having seen children's bead frames before I was surprised how small the Soroban was. But having tried it found this to be an advantage and as a seventeen row frame how powerful it is. I have seen videos of Asian children doing amazing things with their Soroban and as i'm rather hopelessat maths I'm hoping some of their skills will rub off on me.

### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars

    Light and very plastic

This is great for teaching the Soroban to children to improve their grades at school and thinking/remembering skills - sets them up for life.... great because of its weight for small fingers.
