I have tried many of these kinds of devices and all of them have had issues of one kind or another in my 2018 Toyota Camry. But this one works perfectly! I have an android phone and so I need to convert from the apple carplay that my car puts out, to the android auto that my phone uses. And it works seamlessly and wirelessly. My car display is fully functional, and all my steering controls work as well as voice control.Now I don't use the video streaming function in my setup. I don't have a Hotspot capable plan on my phone. But I don't need that. I use this for hands free and wireless audio for books and music as well as calls and navigation. And all work great. The control response time is fast as well.Since this unit does much more than what I use it for, it is a little pricey for my needs. But to have something that actually works for my car, in every way I use it, is just heavenly. So it is worth it to me.

When I bought this my expectations were a lot higher. It took a day or so before I was able to actually get it connected to my car. (2018 Chrysler 300). When I was finally able to get it connected sometimes it would work, other times not so much. It uses the hotspot off your phone to power WiFi in the car so you can use Netflix/youtube. When it worked it worked pretty well, minimal buffing etc. However, now it’s a task to even get it connected to Bluetooth. I have tried numerous times, and honestly it’s not really worth the grief. I’d consider myself a pretty tech savvy person but this has just given me more trouble than it’s worth. The music cuts off frequently, you can’t use navigation through it at least with it unless you disconnect the Netflix/youtube section then it’s a whole process to get the phone reconnected. It send numerous notifications regarding your google account. I’m very disappointed with this. I had the older version, but it didn’t support Netflix/youtube so I had hoped this would work out better but unfortunately not so much. It’s cool to have but honestly, you’re better off just using your phone to watch videos.

The media could not be loaded. Overall I am very impressed with the device! It was kind of a little lag at first, but it got better after the first reboot. It was plug n play, but always check for updates when you recieve. This device can do ota updates within the device itself. Just follow the instructions and wallah. From my understanding, this works for cars that have wired apple carplay only. But no worries, if you have android (like me) it supports android auto through the device after connection also. Videos will play also while in drive but warning (proceed cautiously!) YouTube and Netflix will be installed by default on device. But other apps like hbomax, disney etc.. and can't be added. Having Android auto/Apple carplay plus YouTube and Netflix is enough for me right now. In the future, If I wanted to get a little crazy with the apps, I'll settle for the picasou 2 pro. Customer you got to have patience with, they usually responded to me within 24/48 hrs It's definitely a winner for me and I think it will be for you too!!!

This is a great concept, but my problem is that the adapter is VERY SLOW to connect to and start CarPlay, typically taking at least 2 full minutes. PLUS, I'm having to reconnect it every time I get into the car. Their ads, videos, etc. claim that it will connect automatically but this isn't happening. This device is supposed to add convenience to the CarPlay experience, but instead it is making it more complicated and A LOT less convenient. I have already updated the firmware according to the instructions, but it didn't make any difference. I REALLY WANT THIS TO WORK. I submitted a help request yesterday but did not receive a reply, so I submitted a second request this evening. Hopefully I'll get some meaningful help before the 15-day return window expires. I'll update my review/rating IF/WHEN Ottocast resolves the issue(s). Ottocast Customer Support was responsive but unable to resolve the issue satisfactorily, so I am returning the item. It is supposed to add convenience to the CarPlay experience and it does just the opposite. Having to go through pairing and setup every time we get in the car is anything but convenient.

Ottocast did a great job making sure this device worked for my car. I got it and updated the firmware. Unfortunately, the selector would not work for me which almost wrecked its utility. Julie at Ottocast asked for me to make a video of the issue and to send them the logs from the device at the same time letting me know if it did not work, I would be able to return it if they could not get an update in 2 weeks. 10 days later the patch was available and the issue was corrected. I don’t think I have ever seen that sort of fast response on addressing a bug.

Bought this as the V1 was not compatible with my new 2023 Ram. This one does not work as well. I have had the truck into the dealer and ensure that everything is working correctly. This shuts off every 30-45 seconds and will reset. Very frustrating. If you buy it good luck I have seen a lot of people say it works well, it did not work for me and now I am out 180 dollars.
