Vincita Bike Pannier Hardware DIY Mounting Attachment Kit for 28mm Racks

This product is great. I can’t believe it isn’t more well-known and popular. I bought because I got this great deal on a Chrome Industries Barrage Backpack that I have wanted for a long time, and I wanted to be able to use it as a pannier also. Chrome makes the Barrage bag in a pannier version, but it doesn’t function as a backpack. I wanted the functionality of both. This product made that possible. After several different ideas, I finally managed to also use a system of Velcro and strong magnets that attach the the Barrage outer cargo web so I get a very secure bike bag and didn’t have to break thru the waterproof main compartment of my beautiful Chrome bag. And it looks like it came straight from the factory made this way. There are less than a handful of companies that are offering a bag with both bike and pannier functionality but they all seem to involve some complicated converting process that gets mixed reviews. This was works perfect. It’s a pannier bag from one side and a backpack-day bag from the other. Awesome. Would definitely but again. And so be market research is hard and time consuming, there is also a product from pannierhooks dot com that attaches to the straps of any backpack for this same purpose that is great. But the barrage backpack is 22liters so pretty huge. You can also buy hat the hardware for bags from any major pannier brand at their website or on modern bike. Does the job. Seems a little pricey for what it is. But good quality and fit perfectly.

This is a great idea, that I will ultimately be able to make work. But as mentioned in another review, the center hook (the one that latches to the rack) doesn't line up with the two outer hooks. The outer hooks are very large (28mm, I believe), but the latching hook measures only 16mm. Even if the hooks lined up, the largest rack this will attach to is a 16mm rack. I have requested a "fix" from Vincita, in Thailand. We'll see how that pans out. In the meantime, I can make it work (with velcro and bungees) but I would prefer a latching hook that fits. First update - A day after I emailed Vincita, I received a response from "Gem", the Marketing Manager, requesting my full shipping address. Two days after that, I got another email, and a tracking number, indicating that SOMETHING has been shipped. (I said I needed either a bigger center hook, or smaller outer hooks. Not sure what I'm getting but it matters not.). Great response time. Now waiting to see what gets here, and we'll update this when it happens. Second update - I received a package from Thailand today. They sent a pair of the outer hooks that match up with the articulated center hook. Basically, instead of the wider 28mm hooks, I now have narrower hooks (that will fit any bike I've ever rented anyway so hopefully not an issue). It appears that maybe Vincita has changed their product a bit but may still have some parts from the earlier iteration of this handy item. I'm satisfied and bumping up to 5 stars; a combination of the product and the excellent customer service. Third update - so, of course, I bought another set. I need a bag for the other side of the bike, to balance things out. Second set came exactly like the first. The center hook does not line up any where near the two outer hooks. Fortunately, I have enough parts, and the right tools, to tweak things to make them fit but unless you are willing to modify brand new stuff, I can't really wholeheartedly recommend these until they realize that the "low" middle hook won't work with the "high" outer hooks. Easy to install, effective, affordable. Easy to mount and remove from the rack. Feels sturdy. Enabled me to reuse an old bag I really like - works as well as dedicated panniers.

It worked nicely for a while, but it broke when I hit a pothole. So, this is a light duty part. I had a laptop and a few empty glass containers in my bag. Luckily, the bag didn't fall off my bike when the clip broke. The screws are too short as other reviewers mentioned, I luckily had some other ones lying around that I could use. Eyelet fork screws match the the threads on this product, good design. The hooks attached really well to my bag, after replacing the screws of course. I'm waiting to see what the response is on the companies customer support and I'll update my review when I hear back. If anyone knows of a product like this with heavy aluminum hooks please recommend!

Great option so you can use exactly the bag you want and probably already have. Used on a laptop bag for commuting back and forth to work. Threw a basket over the top so I didn't need to think about whether it would potentially pop off the rack but that maybe a concern on rougher terrain so a bungee may be necessary to further secure the converted pannier.

The Vincita Bike Pannier Hooks Kit is decent overall. The hooks are sturdy, and the materials seem durable. However, one rear bracket had a finishing issue with plastic covering the screw hole, requiring cleaning. The screws provided are too short, making it difficult to securely attach the brackets. If you have a larger backpack, it may not be possible to use this kit. While functional once installed, these issues detract from the overall experience. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
