This Pfister cartridge fit my shower well. Easy to install.

My faucet is from 1996. This fits except the part above the orange plate that connects to the handle. My old one has a single tab and not as tall as maybe I bought the wrong one. Does not fit my handle. Everything else fits. I used Dremmel to shave off both tabs to fit. Works fine.

This is an exact part match for my pfister shower. It delivers the water pressure and it stopped the leaking of the old part. It came with clear instructions but I recommend watching a YouTube video from pfister to install it.

No problems installing this "newer?" type of valve instead of the grey colored one. Worked fine.

I bought this to replace an old Pfister 974-042 cartridge that finally gave out after an inconsiderate neighbor shut off / turned back on the water to our condo building without alerting anyone. The old cartridge had long been difficult to shut off completely, had low hot water pressure, and was now leaking out the front stem. This newer part supersedes my old 974-042 and includes a plastic clip-on spacer for compatibility with the older model. I will note that the spacer seemed just a tiny bit too thick when compared to the old cartridge, but I was able to install it without a problem. Installation is super simple with the included instruction (or one of several Youtube videos). I added a bit of silicone grease to the O-rings when installing to make removal easier in the future. Job was so easy I feel bad for not doing it sooner. Hot water pressure is back to normal and the new cartridge stopped the issues I had with getting the faucet to shut off completely.

I purchased the compatible part from Home Depot that looked like the one I had and screwed right in. After it not working I called the Manufacture's number since the only part number at Home Depot, Lowe's, and Stine, was 974-0420. When I called Pfister and informed them the last four on my cartridge had 440P she informed me the 0420 was replaced with 974-5299. I purchased it immediately. I just finished assembling it and it is working like I never replaced it. No noise, easy to install, controls the water pressure. It's only been 30 mins, but ai have been turning the water off every night from the shut off valve from the garage for a week, so if I can save someone the headache and money spent at the parts store.... 974-5299 JX8 instead of 974-0420 if you see 440P inside the cartridge.

I bought 3 of Home Depot's version of this cartridge and each one were duds. I was experiencing water hammering when I mixed hot and cold water and there was nothing I could do to solve it. Those units were a complete waste of money. After installing this cartridge for the first time, all of the issues stopped. Water flows smoothly with no problems to report. This unit is light years better than the version at Home Depot.

I had bought a few of these before in a generic brand when having issues with temp control in the shower, and this one is by far more superior - excellent quality.
