It's a pretty standard size for pens and pencils, which makes it a trifle short for my paintbrushes, but even with that, it doesn't overbalance. Very stable. The wood is a lovely dark brown with visible grain, and is very smooth to the touch. The tactile quality is pleasing. The slanted sides of the "prismatic" version I bought are reflected on the inside, so it isn't perfectly up-and-down squared off inside. If having all your pens perfectly vertical is important to you, get the rectangle version. But this structure seems to make it more stable than a typical pencil cup with splayed out pens. I know I've said "very stable" twice already (here's #3!), but for reals, I'm the king of knocking over pencil cups, and this one defeats me. Really good design, quality product, absolutely worth the price.

Cool looking pen holder, nice size and well built. It’s light weight and does exactly what you’d need it to do. The only complaint I have is that it was lighter in person than in the picture, however, still a good color.
