whats the spacing between holes please?

There is a plastic adjuster on the side so you can set it for things like A4 and other paper sizes, for the actual spacing not too sure

Would this punch 4 holes in A5?

Yes, I hole punch 4 holes with this on my bank statements which I believe are A5 size paper.

Is this suitable for A3?

The plastic pull-out paper guide has “A3” on it but then the holes would not be in the middle of your bigger paper (it punches 4 spaced holes in A4 length paper). However, I can remove the guide easily on mine so think you could then put bigger paper in & line it up manually to the 4-holes, so its central to your paper to make it work with A3.
