Product Description Tracks: "Feel Flows" (Beach Boys), "One Way Out" (Allman Bros. Band), "Every Picture Tells a Story" (Rod Stewart), "Waiting for the Man" (David Bowie), "Tiny Dancer" (Elton John), "Sparks" (The Who), "Simple Man" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and many more. .co.uk The film Almost Famous is set in 1973, a time when rock and roll was about to evolve into a lumbering, arena-conquering dinosaur. Director Cameron Crowe--who was himself a teenage rock journalist for Rolling Stone magazine--has applied his own first-hand knowledge of the 1970s rock scene and co-produced a soundtrack that neatly encapsulates an era in rock and roll history. Contributions from Simon and Garfunkel ("America") and the Beach Boys ("Feel Flows") nod to a gentler musical scene on its way out, while tracks by Lynyrd Skynyrd ("Simple Man"), the Allman Brothers Band ("One Way Out") and Led Zeppelin ("That's The Way") indicate the shape of rock to come. Meanwhile, David Bowie's version of "I'm Waiting for the Man" hints at the glam scene lurking just around the corner, and Clarence Thomas's "Slip Away" provides an example of perfect 1970s soul. Even Almost Famous's fictitious house band, Stillwater, contribute a track: the nicely retro, guitar-rocking "Fever Dog". --Robert Burrow

Sums up the film
Wonderful soundtrack that has some well known artists (eg Led Zeppelin) and some lesser known, such as the Seeds. It sums up the feeling of the movie well and has been my most listened to album for the last couple of weeks.

A collection of classic tracks
A collection of classic tracks. A slow burn listen. I have many of these tracks on albums by the artists but I enjoyed listening to the film and I purchased this on the strength of that. I literally purchased it to listen to in the car and I think it is great for that.

Cool soundtrack!
I love the film and the soundtrack is so cool, a cherry picked selection of some lesser heard tracks from the sex drugs and rock n roll decade of the 70s. So great, pity it's not a double cd!

Perfect
As good a 70s compilation as it’s possible to find. The film makers even managed to find great Beach Boys and Elton John songs, two artists I’ve never liked.

Greta nostalgia soundtrack form a great movie.
Fab music, delivered in good condition on time. Shame some tracks (On the cover of the Rolling Stone) are missing but a good sample.
