Looks nicer than expected, works superbly
I was disappointed that this does not come in many colors. Well, that is if you do not want the coated (inside) version, and you want the bigger 20 oz size, I think this is the only Zoji option. And I definitely did not want orange (or Pac Man?!?!), so I got the black one. It is actually very nice, so I no longer mind having to get black. It is not a boring gloomy solid black but kind of metallic (like paint on a car, but not glossy). I had gotten a different model for a smaller 16 oz size -- the model with the fatter cap and straight body. I like that one too. Both have what are called "SlickSteel" interior but this black-or-orange model is not as shiny inside, so apparently the Zoji process for making it has changed. Also, this one has one less gasket (one instead of two rings) although I did not mind two. I like that the rings can be removed for cleaning and also that you can buy replacements. In fact you can buy replacement lids in case you break the lid. So I think these will last me a lifetime. Both models hold the temperature extremely well, and both look great. Also, most people probably already know, but the State of California warning on the packaging is just because the product is stainless steel, and stainless steel is made with chromium and nickel (which is "known it the state of CA to be toxic...). The chromium does not leach out and harm you. Really the only reason the label is on so much stuff is trolls bring lawsuits against companies to collect money because of a crazy law, and the label protects agains those lawsuits. It is too bad because it alarms some people. Do some research and don't get upset about the scary labels.

It's freakn awesome-others r all pretenders-It's made in Japan and I'm a Detroiter, so there's that!
As per all Zojirushi products, this is quality engineering, ergonomics, functionality, and performance perfection. Fits nicely in my cupholder, and snugly in one hand. My only fault is actually funny. After you take a drink and close the cap, get a friend someone you detest to and stand in front of them and as you raise your mug to drink, snap the cap open and they should get one or two drops of your drink zinged into their eyes. Ok that can be a bit annoying, so keep your index finger position so it doesn't 'snap' open. Keeps things hot and cold for hours. My coffee is still plenty warm, was brewed in my Zojirushi coffee maker at 5 AM, poured at 6;30 with warmed cream, and it's now 2 PM. Oh and the drink spout is splendid as well.

Best replacement travel thermos I could find
Yes, this travel mug does a good job in keeping hot beverages hot, and cold beverages cold. I bought this (& a different Zojirushi model) to replace a pair of older Zojirushi travel mugs that got badly damaged. Those ones lasted a good couple of years, even after getting dropped multiple times. It was until after they flew out of a moving utv and were accidentally run over that it was time to eulogize their usefulness, and I had desperately sought replacements. This was the closest I could find to the last model, and this one is the most comparable in terms of function & style. Pros: flip-top allows easy access to drinking straight out of your travel mug using one hand, size is about right (not too little, not too large) & keeps a relatively slim profile. Cons: not many, but those that have a hard time with keeping track of parts & pieces, it could be easy to disassemble and misplace all the fittings that go into the flip top lid (total of 4 including a a couple of small silicone gaskets that can easily disappear on your dish rack & before you know it, you've got a leaked spill all over you). Good value on the mug. It's not cheap, but worth the investment considering how well sturdy these products are. The outside of this one has already accumulated some scratches, but those are minor cosmetic scuffs that don't affect the overall durability on how well insulated the travel mug is itself.

Voodoo employed
I donโt write a lot of reviews but once in a while a product performs so well I almost feel obligated to add my 2 cents. This travel mug is hands-down the best Iโve had over a lifetime (Iโm 38) of coffee consumption by a landslide. Just to be clear, Iโm reviewing the 20 oz. Zojirushi slick steel travel mug in black. I made sure to get the slick steel because I avoid Teflon like the plague. They do offer a Teflon-lined version if thatโs your thing. I spent more time than Iโd like to admit researching a travel mug prior to purchase in part because Iโm always so disappointed in them. I pulled the trigger on this one because it checked all of MY boxes: minimum 20 oz., leak-proof, locking lid, and EASY TO CLEAN. It meets all of these criteria in spades. The lid comes apart into 4 pieces and each are sturdy and easy to clean. Itโs also very easy to disassemble and reassemble. I believe you can even purchase the rubber gasket separately if it degrades over time. Itโs obvious that someone put some thought behind the design of this thermos. It is so efficient in retaining heat that Iโm still amazed regularly almost a year after purchase. My biggest complaint is itโs almost TOO efficient in that I leave the lid open during my commute so it cools to a chuggable temperature more quickly. If youโre diligent about closing the lid after sipping it will be warm 10 hours later. Itโs really remarkable. Iโve dropped it HARD a lot and itโs completely fine except for a small dent after dropping onto concrete which is my fault. Itโs so narrow it fits in ANY cup holder or side pocket on a backpack. That is important to me because Itโs hard to come across one small enough in circumference to achieve this and driving with hot coffee between your thighs defeats the purpose for me. It does NOT leak. At all. And the lid locks and stays locked. I can put this in a backpack upside down if I wanted to and it wouldnโt leak. Itโs hard for me to choose anything I would change. The black paint is a little bit sparkly which I donโt love and I suspect the chink in the armor is the hinge on the lid but I havenโt had an issue. Iโm just guessing thatโs what will go first. I Love it. Buy it and donโt look back. I have heard there are some counterfeits out there so just be aware of who/where you buy it from.

Keepin it cool!
My absolute favorite water bottle!! The bottle is slick, easy open, with a LOCK! If you've ever had a water bottle loosen in your bag or backpack you understand what a huge advantage having a bottle that locks is! This baby keeps ice for 12 hours! Many bottle claim they keep things cole for that long but very few actually deliver the promise! I do not use this for hot but i'm sure it would sustain it's champion insulation capabilities! My only wish for this bottle is that it jad a carrying handle, strap or someway to hook it onto a day pack. On my way to Arizona and want to bring my fave, so I may end up "MacGyvering" a strap for it!

Love(d) this mug!
The good: Keeps water cold (with ice) for 24+ hours. It has kept hot liquids hot for similar times, though I mostly use it for water. The size and shape are great. The mug lid is so easy to open to take a sip, and stays closed and leakproof even without the lock activated. With the lock switch, you could basically throw it like a football across the room and nothing would come out. I feel comfortable tossing it inside my backpack with liquid inside and know it won't leak. Not so good: It's 2 years old now and looks great on the outside, but the inside rubber parts and plastic parts are very difficult to clean. The rubber stopper thing has dark brown sludge that won't come off. I got a little bit of it off via Barkeeper's Friend, but it won't all come off so it must be embedded in the rubber. I just ordered a replacement rubber part via Zojirushi so I hope it fits, but that's $9 down the drain for a piece of rubber. Even the hard plastic area where you sip out of has a narrower edge that is very difficult to clean. I'd need to pull out a very narrow brush to clean thoroughly. Of course, none of this is dishwasher safe. Moving on: So, for my daily coffee, I'm buying another brand that can go in the dishwasher and doesn't have those rubber/narrow bits. I won't be able to toss it in a backpack but that's OK.

My new go to tumbler.
This is now my new go to tumbler. I started drinking hot tea because of my sinuses. I found my old one would not keep my tea hot overnight. It would only be lukewarm. This one, hot as can be the next morning. I have even grown to like the color. I preferred the black one but, for ten dollars less, I chose the orange color. ๐ The top mechanism works very well for opening and closing. And it's the perfect size for a 20 oz tumbler. All around, it's a great tumbler that does what it is supposed to do. And does it very well.

Even better in summer
This thing is amazing in winter - but I already knew that because it replaced the 12oz version I lost on a bus. Liquid you put in, basically stays at the same temperature overnight. Put coffee in at 180F at night, it may be 160F in the morning (especially if you pre-heat the inside of the thermos, as physics still applies). If you want to drink coffee you make in the morning with lunch, better add a bit of cold water. In summer, I've been starting to use it to keep cold ice-tea or water on my desk. Usually it gets refilled every other hour, so not much of a challenge. However, unlike a glass, it does not sweat on the outside, so it prevents soaking stuff on my desk. But last Saturday, I put it empty in the freezer to get cold, filled it with ice-cubes and added ice-cold water from the fridge. Then I drove to a park and left it in my trunk. It was 95 outside. I went for an overnight backpacking trip, and came back the next afternoon, more than 24 hours later, 96F outside. The car had been sitting under a tree, so there was some partial shade. The Thermos still had a lot of ice in it. I drank the water (best thing EVER), and threw the thermos with the remaining ice into my pack. When I unpacked in the evening, it still had ice in it! Obviously, melting ice can absorb a lot of thermal energy, but this is the first time I used that thermos to keep stuff cold that long. I find the top easy to completely disassemble, clean with a brush and soak overnight in soapy water to keep it hygienic. I only do this roughly every other week - it really gets used too much for gross stuff to grow quickly. Otherwise I just fill half way with warm soapy water, close, shake, pour through spout, repeat a few times with clean water. Soak 1 hour in a mild bleach solution only after I abuse it as a cocktail shaker for a drink involving raw egg white (hey, when bars are closed, a woman has to do what a woman has to do). I've never had any problems with leaks. It gets banged around a fair bit (like falling of a table or being at the bottom of a bag that gets put down roughly), and so far shows little wear. Great one-hand operation to open, drink and close while driving. Only things I would improve: - make the lid open at a slight angle to the drinking spout (as opposed to right opposite of it), so that those of us with a European equine nose don't end up with a brown coffee spot at the tip from touching the part of the lid that seals the drinking hole. - add a way to attach a lanyard. - maybe allow for a slightly higher flow-rate. Do to the design, if you pour just a little to fast from this thermos, it splashes quite a lot

Exceptional Heat Retention and Thoughtful Design with ZOJI Stainless Steel Mug
The ZOJI is a true gem. It's like a magical guardian for hot drinks, keeping them cozy and warm for hours. The smooth texture feels so nice in your hands โ it's like holding a bit of luxury. And let's talk about that smart little touch at the top โ the locking mechanism is pure genius. No more awkward nose encounters while taking a sip! It's the little things like this that make a big difference in your daily routine. Overall, if you're in search of a trusty sidekick for your beverages, one that's both high-tech and elegantly designed, this ZOJI mug is your go-to. It's become my personal favorite for all things warm and wonderful.

Nice in appearance
Very nice colour. Not 100% leak proof as described when you swing the bottle hard and some water will seep out from the cap. Easy to dismantle and wash. Product is made in Thailand and not in Japan.

Shockingly Amazing
Somethings in life you will really appreciate, this is one of those items you need to have, no matter whatever your profession. The quality and craftsmanship is to perfection. Pour slowly and there are no issues in drinking from a cup. However, the coffee remains extremely hot after many hours so caution is required when drinking directly. Amazing light and carries no weight except the liquid contained within. I'm going to get a another one soon - just incase someone steals this one!

Best coffee tumblr i've had
I've tried many coffee tumblr over time and this is the best one. The lid is very secure. If it's closed and locked, it's guaranteed not to spill. It keeps coffee really hot for a long time. I often sip on coffee the next morning and it's luke warm. Since it keeps coffee hot when it's fresh, I sip it much slower than when I use any other mug. I find that using this tumblr, I don't chug on my coffee and it lasts much longer, causing me to have a more moderate amount through the day. I also like that it's slim and tall. Nice to grab. I got one for the wife in a different color and she loves it too. Look no further for a mug that keeps coffee safe and hot.
