**2025 update** The device worked flawlessly for 27 months. However, it no longer works at all as a biometric doorknob. It won't hold a charge, and as such, requires the key to open every time. I've decided to leave it at 5-stars because 27 months of flawless daily use feels acceptable - I don't know how long I really expected it to work. **2023 review** The instructions are mostly easy to follow, the installation was straight-forward, and the print reader reads well every time. I did have to widen the latch in the frame since the knob I was replacing used a slender indoor latch. This knob uses a hefty latch - the same could be said for the whole design, it feels very solid. The process to enable and disable 'normal mode' is a labored but I never really need it, I just wanted to see how it worked. So, if you want a knob that you don't have to keep scanning into, there are easier models. However, if you weren't controlling access, you probably wouldn't need a print reader.

This product caught some flack in the reviews so I thought it was important to provide both sides. Real use case one year later: flawless. Works every time, zero issues on a wine cellar door that gets used 2-3 times a week. Good stuff. Highly recommend.

Initially this worked well, though it often had a hard time recognizing my wife's fingerprints for some reason, requiring multiple unlock attempts, or me having to come over and unlock it. The "normal on" mode doesn't work (this is the mode that according to the manual leaves the door normally unlocked, but you can manually lock it by pressing an unregistered finger for a few seconds), and customer service stopped responding after I sent them the information they requested. Then after about a year of use we got locked in for the first time because the handle wouldn't fully retract the bolt. Let me tell you it's not fun to have to have someone hand you a screwdriver through the open window in the middle of the night so you can unscrew the lock and get out of the room. Managed to somehow get it working again, but a few months later it happened again, though this time I was locked out, so couldn't even reach the screws! Finally uninstalled it and went back to a traditional keyed lock. I don't regret buying it, enjoyed using it when it worked, but would not buy again.

We bought one of these for a door in our house we wanted to lock. The fingerprint sensor works EXTREMELY well so we bought them for some more doors in our house. Within a few months we found out that was a mistake as the door handle will stop turning OR will turn but will not slide the door bolt in to be able to open the door. We found this out the hard way when our son became stuck in his room for an hour after the door refused to open and we had to remove the bolts to open it. We thought maybe it was a defective unit, so we replaced it but then we had another one break, then another, then another one. What seems to happen is if you open the door to hard, or if someone opens the door at the same time you do OR if someone torques the handle just a little too hard past it's normal range of turn then it bends the cylinder inside the lock and there is no way to fix it. Note that it's VERY easy to do this and it's just a matter of time before the lock will break (especially if you have kids!!). This is NOT an installation problem. Because you get stuck behind the door this is a fire hazard not to mention an expensive problem - we've now have had five of these fail within a year. Avoid this product and buy a different one. It's too bad because the sensor works so good and it's so easy to install but the fact that it breaks so easily means I must recommend against it.
