I replaced a battery run table top mic with this usb model and it is a much better product. I use it for conference calls on Skype and voices around a large board room table are picked up very clearly.

Excellent piece of equipment. I use it for overlaying voice onto lecture slides. Clear recording quality, easy to use.

note: I did not buy this from Amazon, but purchased it used on the 'bay. In fact, I was so impressed with this little mic that I have since purchased four more used examples for not much money. Why? Because I was fed-up with providing my colleagues with great audio through Lync, but getting rubbish audio in return! The investment paid off, as a good audio set-up really does make the difference when doing VOIP, and hence makes working-from-home a viable (and less lonely) proposition. My arrangement is such now that if I close my eyes when on Lync you can really imagine the person sitting a few feet in front of you. I chose this model over some of the more common 3.5mm jack models as I wanted to provide a simple docking solution for my laptop - everything (including three monitors) is plugged-in via a USB 3.0 docking station and having the audio encoding/decoding done over USB means that the audio set-up is consistent even if I change my laptop (my previous laptop had quite terrible audio-out over the 3.5mm jack, and probably poor over the mic input). Also, and I don't know if this is a function of the mic or of the software on the PC, but the background noise rejection when using this device is amazing. I work in a (fancy) shed which sits under the flight path of military helicopters..... when a big Chinook goes overhead the walls of the shed literally shake (as do my insides), but the people I speak to cannot hear it (or barely in the background if they can). If you are a homeworker my advice is to buy one - it's an investment that will pay-off when you realise that you can spend more time working from home effectively (having used one, I would happily pay full-price for a new one for myself). At the same time I would buy a decent USB DAC/Amp + speakers for the other half of the audio duties, and I can recommend any of the suitable products from "Topping" for this.....

Bought this to enable us to pick up conversations around a boardroom table using Skype. The quality is very good, both in sound and build. We added a 2m USB extension cable to it and quality still good.

J'utilise ce microphone pour des vidéoconférences type skype en enseignement, et plus précisément dans des soutenances orales. Ce microphone posé sur une table avant la première rangée de bancs transmet les paroles du candidat parlant en tête de salle ainsi que celles du jury disposé aléatoirement sur les deux premières rangées de bancs dans une salle pouvant tenir 50 personnes - sans nécessité de bouger le micro de sa table et, selon avis des réceptionnaires à l'autre bout de la ligne, avec une qualité de son bien audible - à condition toutefois que les membres du jury sur la 2ème rangée ne fassent pas de la 'petite voix'. Bref, me concernant, c'est ce que je voulais...

Il microfono è molto piccolo, pensavo fosse simile ai ragni vivavoce, ma le dimensioni sono meno di una mano aperta. Questo non ne mina certo la qualità, l'ho messo al centro di una sala conferenze di circa 50mq e gli utenti remoti sentivano perfettamente le voci dei relatori in sala, anche se non parlavano a voce alta. Il cavo fornito è piuttosto lungo, io per metterlo al centro della suddetta sala ho usato una prolunga che ne ha minato il riconoscimento nel portatile, ma do la colpa alla prolunga. Per il resto il microfono è stato visto subito dal PC (Win7Pro). Sono molto contento e rifarei l'acquisto ad occhi chiusi.
