Good for the price, but needed a good clean out and purchase of missing parts
An elderly relatives internet browsing and occasional word docs PC running Win7 was on it's way out due to a failing hard drive. Whilst looking at current HDD prices and Win10 licenses, came across this. For the price of the drive and OS, I could just buy them a ready to go PC instead. I'm familiar with these HP 8200's as we used to use them at work, so it was a no-brainer.Pleased performance and spec wise, was expecting some no-name cheap SSD, so finding a Kingston was a pleasant surprise (even if it wasn't attached to the chassis in anyway, just dangling from the SATA and power cables), but I am curious regarding the definition of 'refurbished' here. Missing blanking panel wasn't the end of the world, easily and cheaply replaced. Working in IT as I do, I had to lift the lid and have a look around inside. Good thing I did, this machine was full of dust, fluff caked across the PSU air intake, and CPU heat sink was clogged too. Out to the garage for a proper compressed air blasting, which may well have been a first time experience for this PC. Looks like it's just been scooped up off whatever desk it came from, SSD whacked in, auto deployed Win10 and into a box it goes without cleaning. As it cost little more than the OS alone does at retail price, can't really complain. Just be aware that it might need a little effort on your part when it arrives after all.

How do they do it so cheaply?
(The IT Buffs sold this PC)Superb computer at a ridiculously cheap price. The unit arrived very well packaged, and in perfect condition. Windows 10 Pro was all already to go, activated (digital licence), with the latest updates installed. All the necessary drivers had already been loaded, so as soon as the PC had booted up, it was good to use. An administrator account had already been set up without a password, so you'll probably want so set one.All I had to do was install an update to the antivirus software (Avira, free edition), set up a new user, and download the necessary applications.I was please to see that there was very little bloatware installed; so little, in fact, that all I uninstalled was Google Chrome.Other things to note:• The SSD drive is made by Kingston, not some weird cheap brand, and is blazingly fast.• There are no suitable bays to hold the SSD, so it is held securely in place with Velcro.• 3.5 inch drives simply clip into place – no need for screws.• All four memory slots are populated (4 x 2GB).• The PC is virtually silent.• 4 SATA ports, two in use.• 10 USB ports - 6 on rear, 4 on front.Usually I build my own PCs, but there was no way I could match the specifications of this unit for the price.

Bent chasis!
Honestly, I am not sure what to think, the pc arrived on time, in an undamaged box. Upon opening the box I was presented with the pc I expected only with a chasis so bent I am debating going through the hassle of sending it back. The fact that inside the box was heaps of inflated plastic, I know without a doubt, this pc was posted in this condition. I could not initially open the case, it was so bent, and right where I need to install my GPU. I have to wonder how did this pc go through a professional Amazon refurb if you can't even open the case? Anyway, I decided to take the gamble and got to work straightening the chasis so I could open the case. Inside all was clean and looked as expected. Until my GPU arrives Monday, I cannot test the machine since I do not use or have VGA setup, only hdmi. I did power up the machine, the green motherboard light came on, and the machine sounded in working condition, touch wood when I put my GPU in, all is well. I will update this if that is possible when I install GPU.

Operating system
I do not like Windows 10. If it is what you are used to then O.K. But I use Linux Mint. Otherwise a fast computer to start up and shut down.

Great value for money
Great bit of kit for the ordinary home user. I don't think it would be good for heavy duty gaming tho' but I'm not a gamer so don't quote me on that. Just the base station so you'll need a monitor, keyboard and mouse, too. These basic add-ons should cost you less than £100. I would also recommend you get the extra insurance if you can afford it, you probably won't need it but better to be safe than sorry.

Very impressed - Extreme value for money!
Purchased one of these recently to replace our ‘old’ (2012) home PC. Whilst only used for basic computing (web browsing, emails and office products) this PC is so much faster than our previous AMD Athlon II processor which seemed to take years to log on and had noticeable lag dealing with multiple applications at the same time. Value for money is out of this world as buying an SSD, 8GB RAM with Windows 10 Pro is probably 4 times the price on the high street! First refurbed PC I’ve ever purchased and won’t hesitate to do again! 1 year guarantee also gives peace of mind but for the price, I’m thinking of recommending to several family members as well! They even threw in a free WiFi USB aerial which was a touch! Very happy customer! P.s. I did open the case upon receipt and removed a bit of dust/fluff that they could have easily done when installing new parts which is my only very minor gripe.

Not Windows 10 Pro installed, as advertised.
Item arrived very quickly, well packaged, and no signs of heavy use or damage . Had it up and running in no time, but found it to have Windows 10 Home installed NOT the Windows 10 Pro advertised. As I am only using it for home use as a second computer, this did not bother me, it is performing all the tasks I require. This is also the reason for only giving 4 stars.

good value.
The PC was already set up so as soon as the cables were connected it was usable. Runs very quietly and boots up quickly. I only use it for internet and music collection, it's perfect for this.
