It is vital to use this with mountboard under the piece being cut. I tried with a piece of mdf beneath it and discovered that it relies on cutting down into the support substrate, which it duly hacks into with its hard strong blade. So for that reason they do not recommend using a cutting mat; there's only so much damage they can take and I can see this would exceed it so I am keeping it off mine! Using it on a support as hard as mdf just caused the knife to bend with terrible angled cuts resulting; the problem vanished when I used it as per the instructions and I've had perfect results since!

This product is the perfect compliment to my Logan cutter. It can be a struggle to cut a perfectly straight edge with a craft/Stanley knife. This product makes the perfect straight edge a simple task.

I bought this as an addition to my Logan kit . It is great for cutting mountboard to size with one pass of the blade (much better than a Stanly knife ) Very well made - I gave it 4 stars as it was a bit pricy and I thought it should have been included in the Kit

Easy and safe to use when used with the correct ruler and correct thickness mount card. Definite time saver and safe to leave out on the desk rather than a craft knife

Nice cutter, easy to use. Shame it is so much plastic, as obviously metal base would be far more hard wearing.

The description on Amazon says “ Product DescriptionLogan-Straight Cutter Elite. Perfect for cutting matbaord foamboard and other similar materials. This 7x5-3/4x2 inch package contains one straight cutter five blades and instructions. Made in USA.Box Contains1 x Elite Straight Cutter”So one sentence says that it comes with 5 blades (which one would expect, of course, as it’s useless without any), but is then followed by another sentence that says that the box contains a cutter.The item arrived in its sealed packet, with the packet clearly stating that there are 5 blades included (see image). There were no blades!I already have a bevel edge mount board cutter and therefore already own some blades of the correct size so this wasn’t a problem for me luckily, but it is misleading.I tested the cutter which does the job ok and it does fit onto the groove of a Logan Adapt A Rule too. It is not very sturdy though, being made of what appears to be plastic, so overall a pretty disappointing product, although it does cut IF you have some blades. I suspect an ordinary Stanley knife would do just as well though.

Useful tool, pleased with the results. Tips: make sure you only fit one blade not accidentally two (they stuck together and I didn't notice at first!), make sure you pull not push to cut (the clue is in the product name...) and use a strip of mount board under the cutting line on the mount board you want to cut NOT self healing or plastic board to get a smooth cut. I tried both out of interest. Very pleased I bought this.

I've tried multiple things to try to make straight cuts for pieces of mat backing boards to mount artwork, but always had trouble getting all the way through the mat for the full cut, accidentally cutting at an angle, or coming off the guide at some point.This cutter holds the blade securely, is easy to hold, has settings for cutting foam or mat board, and rides on the edge and the top of the straightedge being used. Since you use your whole hand to hold and pull this to cut, it is much easier to work with than the less expensive cutters that are sized to use with just your fingers.It comes with some additional blades, and I like that it uses the same blades as Logan's other mat cutters. It is quite sturdy and feels like it will last a long time.

Wenn als Material Stahl angegeben ist, dann erwartet man das als Kunde auch. Der graue Korpus ist aus Plastik und lässt sich nicht sauber in der (original) Schiene von Logan führen.Der Artikel sollte aus dem Programm entfernt werden, oder die Artikelbeschreibung muss geändert werden.Leider liegt die Bestellung schon länger zurück und ich habe jetzt erst wieder ein Passepartout schneiden wollen. In der Verpackung konnte man das nicht unbedingt erkennen.Wenn ich könnte, würde ich den Artikel zurück senden, da der Artikel nicht der Beschreibung entspricht.

No es metálico, es de plástico, creo que por el costo es un producto acorde al material, el plástico parece de buena calidad.

I use it for cutting a straight edge on my mats using my Logan mat cutter. You don’t wanna try a cutting a mat using scissors. That’s a huge No! use one of these. They glide smoothly along the rail on my Logan mat cutter.

Tiene un diseño muy ergonómico y puedes graduar para profundizar el corte, excepto para foam de 10mm que no llega.
