If you are thinking about buying this recording on the strength of her phenomenal Kodaly (also Hyperion), then don't think any longer: I bought this for exactly that reason and have not been disappointed. I didn't know any of the works in this collection but have not been disappointed for a moment. The pieces are all perfectly approachable and, if not quite in the same class as the Kodaly, they bring out the best in Clein's musicianship. She brings to these pieces the same poise and the same sense of exploration as she brought to the Kodaly and I expect to enjoy this disc for some time. For what it's worth I much prefer this disc to her Bloch/Bruch recording of a few years ago - these exposed, solo works suit her perfectly.
