The best welding book I've read !
This is simply the best welding book I have ever read!Don't be mislead by the word "farm" in the title - this book is applicable to farm, business, home workshop, auto, construction or fabricating welding - in fact it is truly an all-round welding book.Previous welding books I've read have either been so basic & cover each type of welding so briefly that they are of little practical use other than an overview, or are designed for real industrial experts and go into molecular structure of metals you'll never see and so on. This book sits nicely in the middle, using language that is easy to follow, with an almost conversational style which is such a great way to teach."Farm and Worshop Welding" covers the major welding types in all the detail you really need to know and has lots of illustrations. It left me with no unanswered questions. In particular I found the pictures of common faults and mistakes (for one example they show you a series of welds with the voltage too low, then progressing up through the correct level to too high, which you can compare with your own results and improve your technique from - excellent) really helpful.Covering Stick, MIG, TIG, Gas, plasma, and even plastics, it also covers techniques like cast iron welding, pipe welding and soldering. It even has a short and very useful section on smithing, using taps and dies, tool sharpening and hard facing. This is a really useful book! The book is ideal for the home welder or person who is maybe not a professional welder but welds to repair vehicles/machinery or to fabricate one off things. Having said that, it has a place on the expert's shelf too.I would say that this is the only book you are going to need from complete beginner who has not yet even bought a welder or used one, right up to the competent regularwelder. I recommend this book without any hesitation!

Clear & well written in English (England).
Too many times when I have purchased a book through the internet, or by mail order, I have said "If I'd only seen this in a shop, I'd have never bought it!"This IS NOT one of these books; I'm pleased to recommend it.I approached welding with trepidation.I have seen too many shoddy home-made welds! This book clearly in British English advises & instructs one to just the right depth of knowledge to give one confidence in attempting to weld.

Great book.
I had completed a very indifferent and expensive 60 hour course and ended up with experience but without skill. This book had me producing almost perfect stick welds within the hour. I'm just sorry I didn't find it before I payed for the course!

Great treatise for those beginning or improvers
Great treatise for those beginning or improvers. Just the right balance of theory to practical guidance to get you up and running and choosing and using the correct gear.

Very good as a how-to guide
Well written, not too much theory, lots of clear illustrations and helpful tips.I mainly bought this for the section on TIG welding, but the rest of the book is equally clear and well-presented.Ideal for the beginner, or near-beginner to welding techniques.

Informative and readable.
This book is what I thought it ought to be. It covers welding in some depth as well as associated aspects. It is written in plain English with some humour and is therefore effective at describing techniques.

Easy to read and well thought out
This is an easy to read well thought out and generally all round good reference for welding. Dont let the farm welding title put you off. I have found this book to be an invaluable guide for starting off MIG welding
