Great stone
I was impressed by the quality of the stone and by the packaging. This is the first stone I have from this brand and I will totally buy more. Easy to use and doesn't require much maintenance. My VG10 knife is razor sharp now

AS GOOD AS THEY'RE MADE OUT TO BE
I previously bought the 2K and 5K to progress my sharpening from a Sharpal 1200 flat diamond plate, ( a good 'starter' platform in fairness), and these Kuromakus are superb. They 'cut' and polish without too much effort...so much so that I bought the 8K. My standard of plane iron and chisel edges are far from professional standards, but you can't argue against true sharpness. A lot of reviews/pundits reckon you don't need to go higher....but I'm looking at the 12K now. Disturbingly addictive in a closet samurai kind of way. Highly recommended although I'm sure I've alread y raved about this one .

Amazing whetstones
I purchased a range of grits from 1000 to 8000 (i need the 12000 next, but at £74, my budget is a little stretched this week, but will be purchased too). I'd previously bought the cheaper stones available on amazon and they were just not up to the job - barely able to cut into hardened steel and left a very patchy surface as whatever is in them lacks consistency with the composite inside them. Using the Shaptons has been eye opening. They cut evenly, quickly, consistently and cleanly through hardened steel and are worth every penny. The case is perfect as a temporary work stand, they require very little water and have to be one of the best investments i've made in regards to making blades. I couldn't be happier with them. Fantastic product, delivered remarkably quickly too
