Many Indian authors need to be celebrated and Ismat Chugtai is one of them! A time when female sexuality was not taken into consideration, she wrote things that spoke to every woman! Glad to have this book!

The books contains 10 short stories. I liked most of the stories. Few stories also have some erotic vibes along with social commentary and I can understand why Ishmat had cases upon her. The stories gives glimpse of hardship and turmoils of partition. The stories brings prevelant patriarchy in very subtle ways which I really admire. Overall a very good quick read.

Chughtai brilliance as a writer gets bolstered in this collection of stories. They are engaging, fascinating and break boundaries challenging our notions of sexuality, gender and normative structures which bind us.

Nice book.
