Take it out and let your pet enjoy the extra space. I bought this to add to the habitat which my disabled wild mouse lives in. She needed more space to enjoy hiding and climbing. As soon as it was attached she moved her bedding into it and, nearly twelve months later, she still sleeps in her second storey bedroom. It is a perfect size for the woven grass nest balls and with some soft paper bedding it's a snug bed. Even though she has three legs, she can climb easily into it through the tube. Easy to clean, easy to assemble (with practice) but I agree with others that the upper piece could do with more ventilation holes as it can get steamed up.
